I've just had another not that old faded 2 screw tail light lens almost crack in half a couple of days ago. Where can I get good quality ones that don't fade in a few months and won't crack after 12 months?

Also, if I can't find any of the above, are the replacement 3 screw ones any better? I am prepared to replace the whole lot with 3 screw bases if the lenses last longer (I know they also seal better too).

Thanks guys & gals.

The only good 2 screw lenses were the Lucas Australia ones, they are NLA new.
Somebody here would have some good s/h ones, you may need to recolour them with red or amber dye (see autoBarn). I'll have a look in my stash...

That would be awesome if you could Doc.

I have a few in my stash but unfortunately they all have cracks or chips etc (I should really throw them out :? ).

Someone has them for sale on ebay at the moment, about 6 hrs to go (290421798525 ) , check out the price of them, $$$ although they are complete units. A few months ago someone sold a pair of brand new genuine Lucas lenses on ebay for about $ 450, they are like a lot of other bits and pieces they are getting pricey.
Colin.

I brought 2 very good cond genuine Lucas lenses the other week for a very small price < $ 20 just so i would have a spare set, the only down side to them is that they have had a small blue button type lense inserted into the tail light section for some cosmetic reason to make them look different. What i should do is put these on my car and put my good ones away in case i do happen to break one.

Tell me more MG, i've never seen them before, but thats what the seller said , apparently it makes your tail lights look purple. When i brought them i was hoping that the blue bit was only glued on, but the lense has been drilled and the blue dot/ button inserted with little tabs that fold over to hold them in, but for what i paid for them it was worth the gamble. i'll have to learn how to post photo's ,it would be easier to explain.

It's an old trick that goes back to the '50s I'm pretty sure it was fairly common mod along with fluffy dices hanging off the mirror.
And it does make the lights look purple. If you grab yourself a hotrod mag
(or browse it in the news agent) the retro or old timey rods have them.
I think they they look great on the right kind of car.

You can get booked for having funny coloured lights front or rear.
I thought it was a good idea to paint my front parkers `dayglo green' back in the 60s. The local constabulary thought otherwise.

In NSW it was/is still an offence to show other than white to the front or red to the rear (apart from blinkers).
