I missed my chance of ridding the world of another 4 Aquajets.

For those that have missed the long running gag I have been bagging Dunlop Aquajets for a while due the the mistaken belief that they were the factory stock tyre fitted to all Australian made Cooper S's. When in fact they were only an optional tyre for about the last 6 months of the Cooper S production life.

I fitted a set to my SV1 Valiant when I was 18. They were nice and soft
and wore out real quick. I did think they looked nice.

Way back then I ran Olympic GT radials. Way better life and handling than Aquaplanes and better in the wet too.
But Michelin XAS were the duck's guts... :P

You can buy new 10' Aquajets. Antique tyres here in melbourne sells them!

I may actually get a set of Aquajets in 145SR-10 for the Cooper S.
I have always had the theory that the worse the tyres are the more fun you can have at a lower speed.

The Bridgstone 145's I used a while back on my 1275LS (albeit 12 inch) struck the fear of god into me, and they're 40 years younger in construction techniques....I can't guess what a set of aquajets would do to me.

The best bit is you get to pay 245 dollars per corner to find out!

I have done a lot of driving on "R" compound tyres. They are great on the track but there is no fun in them at road speeds.
