Hi guys,
I'm going to make a rear sway bar for my Mk1 hydro and I need some good ideas. Has anyone got any to share?

I'd be inclined to say that a sway bar on any hydro system may not be a good idea.

It apparently works really well and was commonly fitted back in the 60's.

I had a sway bar on the back of my Deluxe back in the 80s. It had front shockies too. The handling was greatly improved.
Now, I do have a sway bar sitting at home and I'm a bit hesitant to fit it to my current car as it might not be such a good idea. I'll fit my fully adjustable front and rear suspension and AO32s first and see what it's like.

Hi Al, I have one on my S, you are welcome to look at, I also have some good pics of a CCC one that I borrowed from Angus and as you know there is one on the Arden car that you can look at.

A guy down the street (back in the 70's) had a Cooper S with front and rear bars and the body was buckled in front of the rear wheel on both sides. I assumed it was because the suspension had such little compliance. That guy did drive it really hard.

I have one on my Hydro Cooper S, I have owned it since the 70's. works really well and I find it strange when driving the car without it fitted. :shock:
It was made in Aus by K-Mac.

why not use Competition Rear Bumper Stops. Must say I'v never driven a Mini with a rear sway bar but love the Bumper stops and they have been on for at least 6 Years now

Hi Gafmo,
The sway bar is more about keeping the rear wheels of the car tied together, the competition bump stops still allow individual movement but are still used when a sway bar is used .
