Spot the obvious mistakes....

Quote:
This vehicle was manufactured by British Leyland,Zetland Sydney in 1978 as an engineering exercise to mass produce them in Australia.Ihave the original delivery docket and bill of sale along with the original NSW Certificate of Registration in 1978.It has an 1100cc with twin SU"s and extractors as well as gold Minilites with brand new tyres.

1) The company was not "British Leyland" It was Leyland Australia. (a bit picky but a fact)
2) In 1978 Zetland was a stores depot for the Australian Navy. Leyland closed Zetland in 74 and moved out in 75. Mini production was moved to Enfield.
3) Minilites are not made of gold.

I do have a reference to Leyland looking at making wagons at Enfield in about 76/77. I never knew how far they got with the idea. It looks like they got further than I thought!

The engine number is very interesting. It looks like a but of creative numbering at the factory to create a unique prefix for that car.
It must have been factory because a backyard job wouldn't bother to change the numbers like that.
I would guess that the engine number was from the first half of 76. I would love to see the compliance plate to see the rest of the story.

Hi Morris 1100

I have looked back at the ad and the posts and can't find an engine number anywhere, do you know something we don't :?:

Cheers
Steve

Spoke with the owner today.
Thought I might drop by and have a look as he is only a couple of kays away.
Unfortunately I can't get around to see it until late next week as I am off to Darwin..... bugger!

He said that the engine has been changed since it was originally built.

Looks like a very interesting mini.

Need to make room in the shed in case I fall in love with it when I see it!

I really don't think it is THAT Paul, he would have it in lights and glamour on ebay. He wouldn't use car sales. I'm sure you'll be safe.
