Well BMC did import 9 wagons in the 60's for evaluation purposes (apparently) they actually sold 1 at the 67 motor show in Sydney , the car still exsists, white red interior and wood . One of the others was run as the nurses car around Zetland don't know what happened to the rest .

I don't suppose they kept any records of the chassis numbers? Maybe they are already in the register.

Cheers,

Watto, I meant the Traveller register maintained on here somewhere. :)

Yeah, I know Leyland pulped everything, but we can all live in hope of some hidden bunker somewhere untouched for 30 odd years, full of paperwork for every car BMC ever built.

ohhh, I found that a while ago... also in the bunker was a '65 MK1 S with 0 miles on the clock, a clubman GT police car with a crossflow head, also with 0 miles on the clock, the real 13C bathurst car (the story of it being stolen is rubbish) and the first 850 built in Australia

;)

I had a couple of Mokes (`77 and `79) to do up, I sold them because they rust faster than Minis do.

Only when you leave them outside full of water!!

A Moke does not make a good fish pond!

Cheers,
Watto.

I'm sure the only works built aluminium bodies 16V methanol injected and supercharged Moke is in there too.

It must exist! I once met a guy at a car show who swears he lived next to a guy, whose uncle once knew a bloke, whose sister went out with a bloke, whose brother worked for BMC in the sixties.

That guy actually hand built the Moke himself using nothing but fencing wire, old fag packets, coke cans and the remains of an ex-World War 1 Egyptian Army submarine. Of course the only tools he used were a hacksaw with a blunt blade, a soldering iron, a cross-head screwdriver and a pair of salad tongs.

The only thing you might find under my bed is old car magazines (including TME) that Sarah has kicked under there in frustration when she vacuums. That is if she doesn't dump them in my ever growing "pile of crap" in the corner. :P

Mate, if I had the old BMC records you know I would have to have some fun with you. I'd drip feed random chunks of them to you one by one every day over about ten years just to drive you up the wall. :D

Every day!! :D

I should be so lucky.

I was believing all that about the special Moke, until you got to the cross-head screwdriver. I find that a bit hard to believe. Surely it would have been a slot-head. The cross-head just sounds too far fetched. I have no such problems believing the salad tongs though.

Cheers,
Watto.

I do love Mokes, but they are a rust bucket, even the gal ones if not cared for will turn to red dust.

Yeah, but the rustier they get, the faster they go. Just add lightness. Plus you can play at being Fred Flinstone. 8)

My Moke has more patches than a quilt. But that just adds to the charm.
