In a bunch of stuff I got with my mini there were some of the thick washers for the exhaust/inlet attachment and they had been ground down on one half so it was stepped. Obviously had the same issue as you. This seemed like quite an easy fix, provided the right amount of material was ground away.

yep, very common.... I recently binned the old ones I inherited with one of my cars - someone had welded half of a thin washer to a thick washer. I got the sh*ts with them and went to work and made some lovely new ones on the mill. Used a piece of 1" wide x 5mm thick flat, I drilled 4 holes in a line, milled half of one side through the centre of the hole, then cut it into pieces with a hacksaw. The end result was 4 square stepped washers that were all identical thickness(es)

Tonight I replaced a perished and weeping brake line on the front right brake, and cleaned. Then I went to adjust the right rear, discovered that the shoes were out of adjustment, so put a dob of weld on them, then spent ages trying to work out which one was at the front and which was at the back... I think my superfins need machining again :(

The Rover injection-engine exhaust nuts can wobble and allow for smal differences in height :) Pretty sweet! And they have the washer build in... http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4223/spinutte.jpg (not enough for my fanimold as you can see  )

I milled Boostedmini's Metro turbo? intake manifold underneath by 12mm so it clears his new fabricated turbo zorst one.

I replaced my other brake line, and cleaned adjusted up the left hand rear brake... all ready for tarmac motorkhana tomorrow :D

I also fiddled with my colourtune, and decided to go back to the CP4 needles Kev gave me a while ago.. The colourtune seems to be telling me that it's lean at full throttle - I'm thinking maybe I'll try richer, 'BF' looks alright

http://www.morrismini.com/SUNeedlesV2.a ... BE;BF;CP4;

I've also been fiddling with the datalogging on my megajolt, I can produce engine acceleration charts to compare power gain/loss when I change things.

The first chart is the RPM - the slope of the line is what we're after, the steeper the better.

The second chart is the RPM acceleration, steeper the better

The blue line on these was before I changed the needles and put thicker oil in the dashpots, the green/red is after.

Image

The rev limit kicks in at 6500rpm, and works by dropping the advance to 0, so the engine can go over it, as you see it went a bit over 7k, which is alright, but not intentional. So the green line is better

Cut the steps off the flange of the LCBs so they match the Minispares inlet flang. Attempted to purchase fuel line and spark plug leads
Painted Manual fuel pump blanking plate & MC plate
annoyed so much more could have been done

I pushed mine out to check that the concrete job I did worked. Oh and I also re-adjusted my rockers, topped up the dashpot oil, tweeked the throttle linkage and re-balanced the carbs (thanks Gunsons Carbalancer), cleaned all the plugs and then gave the donk a clean with Mr Muscle.

Adjusted the clutch, topped up the coolant (which is weeping slightly from the lower radiator hose, and I can't be farked pulling it out to fix it), and lifted the hydro from two to three fingers.

Also decided it was time to be an irresponsible loon again, so swapped the RC40 for the LOUD hot dog

Changed out the fuel filter and pulled it apart to see what lurked within.

Black stuff that looked like dirt. Not too much but enough to tell me why I have a filter.

Saturday morning - Pulled the engine outta Little Red that I sold to someone for money that I desperately needed :(

Sunday afternoon - Fitted 2 headlight relays to Madlockie, one for high beam and one for low beam along side with 2 inline fuses, as on Friday night, the headlights killed the dipper switch

Luckly I had a new one that was in Little red, that I could pull from. 8)

Good as gold now, much much brighter and I have high beam and low beam again :P

Also fitted a better horn that could be heard over the engine  pulled from little red as well
