It was coated by "competition coating" in archerfield?? I didn't deal with them at all as I went through somewhere else, not sure what they'd charge directly

And on another note, another step forward... I sold the money hungry datto and bought me a Mitsubishi made Jeep, shouldnt cost me much to keep this one as a weekend car. So more $$ soon to be spent on the van once again

Yeah for a weekend car the Datto was costing me too much money to keep building it the way I wanted... We worked out I drove it 11000k's in a year and spent about $1000 a month on it. So it was time to go bigger ;-)

Woohoo finally some progress on the van. It only took a few months to get it eventually to the powder coater and coated, still have a few bits to pick up tomorrow from them.
And will hopefuly get some bushes and wheels bearings and other bits and pieces to put the hubs together

seeing it all laid out and coated like that is very impressive. It looks so good and strong/well designed, I like it :D

So I had another phone call today that I didnt want to have. My beater in Sydney has sold his shop, gotten a divorce and is moving to QLD at the end of the year... The people that have bought the shop dont want to do any custom work and want to push my car right out of the way (be it out the front or out the back, either way they want it out side and out of the way) So I now need to find another custom shop that can start again or finish what my pannel beater has started... I know of Exquisit Customs in Campbelltown NSW but i have tried to ring them all day and no answer.
Does any one know of any custom pannel shops in Brisbane??

So I have made some progress finally, mainly to the jeep.... But I did speak to both of the pannel shops today and have sorted out what is happening with the van, the new guys that bought the shop that have the van at the moment were just about ready to re-locate it to a farm some where (I was just about ready to fly to Sydney at this stage) but I made well shore they didnt do that (most are not going to believe me when I say it but I have spent over 10k on just the pannel work alone at this stage) and it looks like this (this photo was taken whist it was still in the spray booth, so imagine that but rustier?)

I rang the new place where it is going to be headed (hopefuly monday) and have set out a basic time frame and what I want done... Have agreed to get the body totally finished by them and by finished I mean painted and everythin. So now ill just have to win the lotto and maybe sell a kidney but jeez it'll look good once finished (I shouldnt have bitten off almost more than I could chew)

For those interested the jeep is looking quite large and pretty damn good if I do say so myself (except when I got it stuck and full of mud the other week  )
Sorry for the lack of mini photos, but hopefully some progress in the next few months

I thought it was about time for an update since it has been over a year since the last one... The van made it's way into another panel shop in Sydney about a year ago. I have been and seen them a few times without seeing any progress (nothing real strange for a panel beater).
It was scheduled to finish December 11, 2010 for a set amount which I have given th half of already. THIS IS NO SMALL AMOUNT!
Now I flew back to Sydney 2 months ago to take another look see and give them a bit of a hurry on as I want my van back. They still hadn't started anything but said that it was the next car in, which would be in about 6 weeks time
So that date was 2 weeks ago and I have been trying to get a hold of them the last 2 weeks without any luck at all. I have left messages, sent messages, sent emails and even sent a mate around a few times to try and get the guy to call me back. Still without any luck.
My patience has worn thin and now all I want is my car back and my money back (I'm not going to hold my breath for both of this to happen)
I have been through this once before on this van and that costed me over 10k in panel beating and modifications which they didn't finish before they sold the business leaving me with the van as it sits now (****ed) it's not worth a sent as it is and has had way too much money spent on it for what it is...
This is what it looked like a few years ago just after it had a little primer on it, imagine it aged a few years, it looks rustyier and in much worse condition now
Image

Sorry for a horrible update

Cheers
(a very unhappy) Dan
