Bit of a new idea to go with the light weight daily driver.
What are peoples ideas on reducing aero drag. I was thinking about the air traveling through the engine bay and out the wheel arches which from memory creates lift.
If you were to block off the wheel arches and under the subframe (seal them to the subframe and body), mount a radiator behind the grill and duct the air through the top of the bonnet.
In my theory this would eliminate the lift created from the air escaping through the arches and under the car and also create some down force by all the air going through the grill has to then travel up through the bonnet vents (styled similar to the EVO bonnet).

wouldn't this channel the air up into the windscreen. so you'd get air pushing upward coming from under the bonnet reducing the drag created by the air coming over the top of the bonnet?

a small wing at the back of the roof helps separate the air flow from the back of the car too. cant remember where but ithere is an article on a whole bunch of aero mods to a mini somewhere i'll see if i can find it for you

more on topic tho.... if you blocked up the undercarriage and made it quite smooth is should make a fairly decent improvement to the aerodynamics.
Yeah that's part of the idea aswell.
maybe chopping/ reshaping roof, Mini Monaco style would help aerodynamics as well... not really a cheap option tho
If I was going to chop a roof it would be on a van in the Monaco style, 2 inches at the front (in total height but rack the windscreen back instead of cutting the A pillars), and cut the rear down 4 inches or more.

go on a diet ,

u can acid dip the body till its .6mm thick

Go on a diet  I already weigh 55 odd kilograms
I'd prefer not to acid dip for cost reasons and also strength issues :? .

EAB I reckon that may also help slightly. It's putting more air up in front of the windscreen but like the theory it also creates an extra updraft so it may help in that area...
