I prabably have over 80% of fastener on my car new.
I make lists as things are dismantled and buy new fasteners when I get to a big batch.
Quite often I'll change the type of some of them, for example I don't refit flat or phillips head screws with the same type, instead I fit button or socket head screws.
In addition to that, I've nominated all my screws / bolts whatever as high grade alloy steels or stainless depending on what they're doing and all have been plated to be the same colour.

Surprisingly wasn't all that much. I've surpassed 3000 individual fasteners so far (I always order extras) and it's probably cost less than $300.
That's a big saving compared to buying them in packets from bunnings or whatever at a cost of $6 for 4 screws.

Just be wary that some nuts, bolts and particularly washers need to be hardenned steel and not just soft steel, el cheapo nuts and bolts. Generally anything that needs a proper torquing will need hardenned washers and proper bolts and/or nuts.

I've been quite lucky with my rebuild. I've only had to replace about fifty nuts and bolts, Door, boot and bonnet hinges, manifold nuts, timing cover and a few other assorted bits.



So..... Not much to play with in the middle of nowhere then.... Well not quite in the middle of no-where but you can see it from there... How's the Dally pub these days? I remember almost melting the soles off my boots on the stone fireplace out the back of that place once or twice ....
