yeah its a domestic one.

You can use a teflon spray or use calico ONTOP of your vinyl and pull it out after you have sewn it to overcome the sticky problem.

IIRC I did the beading buy stitching them up first while leaving both ends of the panel ( front panel, back panel ) open. I put the foam in glad wrap and pulled it through with some wire.

There really is a few ways to skin a cat (or re skin a seat)

I was going to do piping but I didnt because it may have been to hard. Looking back I think it would have been do-able.

Vinyl is cheap and forgiving. Warm it up a little with a hair dry and it becomes soft and stretchy like rubber, this will help with tight bends etc.

don't be shy to put some extra runs of stitching here and there too it will make it stronger in the long run.

It may look a bit shitty at first but vinyl really does "settle" a lot. Wrinkles disappear and the whole thing gets better over time...

Even though as soon as I got mine finished I covered em with seat covers... just so they stay nice..

I have the book - details how to do the original folded pleats with hidden stiches - The MK1 Mini use this method only instead of stuffing each pleat separately a sheet of cotton wadding was incorporated in the stitchup.

Wombat, could you give details of this book? Havent come across one which specifically makes reference to Mk1 Mini seats.

Thanks
marc

It's a general auto trimming book - the seats covered are not specific MK1 - but close - a Jag I think and very similar ( apart from the fact he is using leather) I'll post a pic of the book when I find it.

Found it
