so im getting closer to finally getting my car on the road since 2002 after 6 months of slow work!

I went to turn the engine over yesterday, and it is running weirdly. The engine will accelerate all by itself up to about 2000 rpm, then drop back to about 500. The engine also holds revs for a little bit after acceleration (if that makes sense)

the engine is a 998 with twin 1/4 su's

is this an electrical issue, or a carby issue??

thanks for your help!!

Could be a air leak, check that the manifold is fitted to the head properly, or get a spray bottle and spray a fine mist of water around the manifold, the revs should drop down when sprayed.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

had the same problem, it was due to a leak where the manifold mounts to the head. a new gasket fixed the problem for me.
