Hi,

I have inherited a mini clubman 998CC and was pretty keen on restoring it and getting into classic mini's :) It wasnt running for a couple of years , and has also been in a rear end smash, although i dont thinkt he damage is tooo bad.

Anyways i got it running however theres a couple of problems. Firstly it's blowing a lot of white smoke. I thought this might just be condensation but after letting it warm up and driving it around the block a couple of times, its still there. Sounds like oil burning, perhaps rings?

Secondly, I can't change down into second at speed, only if im stopped or going very slow. Synchromesh?

Here's a picture of the damage. Do you guys think this would cost much to fix? I can find a replacement bumper/bootlid (anyone selling one in perth?) but i'd have to pay someone to straighten out the rest of it.

Its looking like this is probably just a good car for parts, or to sell to someone who could use the parts. So no doubt i'll be on the lookout for a better mini soon!
