Q1. Will this bracket come out without removing the inner skin?

Yes it will (I've done it) but you have to push the rear window track away from the door for it to drop out. I screwed a long bolt into the track then pushed it with a G clamp.

Q2. The chrome strip along the pocket refuses to move, tricks/best way to get it off so it's in good enough condition to go back on?

Q3. If I was to be adventurous and wanted to put power locks/windows in, I'm assuming I'm going to need to cut the skin, where/how is the best way to cut the inside skin?
Image

Q4. (should have been Q1) What's the best way/process to get everything out and off the door?

the one I haven't go in to yet.

LAST Q. It sounds like there's half the outback shaking around in my rear doors (van). Best way/process to get that out? take off outer skin? Cut the bottom off and weld back on? They're in decent Nick so i prefer not to ugly them up cutting in random places.

Nearly completed my TechEdge 2Y Wideband O2 sensor kit, only one more connector to solder. Why do I leave the crappy jobs to last? :?

Next step build the MegaSquirt kit. :D

Fitted 12G202 head last night after getting it back from the head recon peoples. Looked really good. Checked to make sure everything sealed and it did. They fitted new guides and new exhaust valves and did a little skimming of the surface. Got it all back together with new/better ACL Monotorque headgasket (much nicer than the elcheapo sprayed silver thing I got with the last gasket kit ) and then couldn't find the spark plugs..... WTF! Put some old ones in (they are rooted I know this, hence the reason for changing them). It ran, abeit only on 3 cylinders, but it ran and no more oil smoke. Buying new plugs today. Might try some Bosch ones.

She was actually running on two cylinders. No fuel getting to number 3 and 4 cylinders. Why? You ask? Well maybe you don't but here's the answer.

Somehow I hadn't adjusted the number 6 valve clearance so the exhaust valve was staying open on the compression cycle of that cylinder doing all sorts of weird stuff to the intake of fuel on 3 and 4 cylinders.. Runs sweet now, hopefully the smoke will also stay away. going to go for a drive tomorrow if the rain stays away for a decent length of time..

Image Image

the in car looks a bit dodgy, havent yet clipped it in to set in the right place yet, and am gunna try and round it a bit better near the latch recess bit  ! I've covered the back completely in clear plastic contact sheet stuff, coz it does leak a bit in the windows, so it shouldn't get as water damaged now me thinks/hopes!

now to make the rest  !

Well I finally finished cable, now I know why TechEdge offer an completed cable on their web site! :P

Did preliminary power tests... all OK. Inserted CPU and support chips no talky to netbook via USB to RS-232.:(

Found that no name USB to RS-232 converter was a piece of s#%t. Purchase new brand name converter, connected and away it went.

Moral of the story is don't buy no-name USB to serial converters of Flea Bay.

Now onwards to building the MegaSquirt. :D
