Those soft rubbery channels you might have to glue and screw them on, the bottom channels where the drains are you might have to put holes in it so the water will drain out or mini spares UK have the right ones now

Hi Simms,

The soft rubber sliding window channels you have are for the top section of the front doors, not the rear of a traveller.

The channels you need are much thicker & are basicly longer versions of what goes at the bottom of front sliding window doors. I purchased mine years ago from Somerford mini spares in the UK, I am not sure if anyone here in Aus has them. There part numbers are...

14A7631 CHANNEL, glazing, front
14A7630 CHANNEL, glazing, rear
14A7632 CHANNEL, glazing, upper
14A7633 CHANNEL, glazing, lower

Regards
David.

Let me know how you go getting new ones. Mine have all been replaced with white plastic channels from a hardware shop. :x

Is it the catches or the window pulls you need?

I have two spare sets of the pulls, as I commissioned a batch of six sets in stainless steel because they were unavailable anywhere. One set went onto my Countryman, and the others onto other Ausmini members cars.

They might be the ones that came with mine when I got it from Steve and Mikey?

I wondered what the story was behind them.

I was told that the baily channel for the top of the front doors is the same length as the bottom channel of the rear windows . gentleman start your tape measures .

Not sure what part book you have ordered but the one i have is the factory book that dealers and service agents would have got.

Not sure, but think it would be the same book. It's on a CD by Heritage Motor Centre, containing parts books, workshop manuals and owners' manuals for the English MKI and MKII ranges.

My copy arrived today. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me, since I don't have a CD drive. I'd intended to make an image down at the local library and run it from that, but the CD has some sneaky copy protection preventing legitimate owners from doing this. In fact it wouldn't run at all, since my local library seems to have a policy of blocking computer usage for any purpose other than Facebook or violent noisy computer games. I notice they also block the Ausmini website.

For any interested members who own a CD drive, software is available here:

Both very good suggestions I think.

Mini Spares are still showing the soft rubber type on their website, but maybe they just haven't updated the images yet.

I think the original type were made from a harder rubber with a thin cloth covering and no groove on the underside.

I see. The channels I have were bought from Mini Car Clinic, Padstow, by a previous owner. They had the correct part numbers written on them, so they're at least the right length. I think they'd been kicking around his shed for a while though, as they're a bit rough. Think I'll still use them rather than trying to get the correct ones from Mini Spares, as I'm running short of cash.

Awesome, that's very enterprising of you. I'm missing all the catches and two of the window pulls. I have the window pulls for the rear-most glass, although they're a bit worse for wear. My plan was to fix the rear glasses in place using some stops I made (similar to later Clubman estates). Then use the rear pulls on the front glasses, cutting off the extra bit of metal where the catches go. I'm not sure if this will work - maybe the front pulls are a bit narrower so they can fit into the channel at the front?

Anyway, what are you asking for the stainless pulls? I'm interested. PM me if you like.

Watch out for these discs, they don't work on modern operating systems. The stupid copy protection thats on them isn't compatible with Windows 7 or any MacOS , it sort of works with XP and maybe Vista. Its also dicey with versions of Acrobat reader later than version 6 (9 is current). There is a workaround to remove the copy protection, but its long winded and you have to do it on an older computer that can open the files to begin with. The files are broken up into loads of separate chapters and they all have to be done individually.

Apart from that they are a great resource.

Swiftden sent me the parts book excerpt and I've uploaded it to MediaFire:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ivenzimd3o2

I haven't used that service before, but it seems to work.

Right, that'd be my problem then. :(
