To anyone who wants a plate. They will be NZ$20 posted. I do Paypal and Western Union but I guess you could do a bank transfer or something.

PM me before you pay so that I can keep track of it. They will be ready to post end of next week.

Regards
Al

Morris 1100,
You are the man!
Those pics are exactly what I was hoping for. I can now see how the pistons and valves etc work. The vacuum pump was the mystery bit as I wasn't sure if it was just a simple plunger type pump or something a bit more complicated with diaphragms etc. Its just a simple plunger with 2 sealing rubber washers sandwiched between those plates.
The check valves in the bases can be replaced by separate inline check valves so it looks as though a both pumps can be made from some small hydraulic cylinders with separate external check valves. From the pics it looks as though the pressure pump piston is about 3/4" diameter and the vacuum piston is about 1 1/2" to 2" diameter.
Are you able to take some measurments or is the pump all back together?

Thanksfor your help.
Regards
RonR

Hi Ron, the pump is back together but you are just about on the money with the measurements.
The pressure pump was 3/4" and I never measured the vacuum pump but I would guess 1 1/2" (I just did a rough measurement using the photo of the pump in the 4" vise and it looks like 1 1/2")

The pressure pump seal looks like a hydraulic seal of some sort. I don't recall any numbers on the seal.

As you can see by my photos the way the valves are so simple it would be easy to make or just fit off the shelf check valves.

The only thing I would change in the design would be to fit a second tank to drain and evacuate the system into rather than contaminating the single tank.

The second tank for the old fluid sounds like a pretty good idea to stop old rusty fluid mixing with the new. Either that or just have both pump discharges going into an external container which can then be easily emptied.

Thanks again for your help

Regards
RonR

The very first pumps in the UK had two tanks. Then they made things simpler.

Hi guys,
I attempted to pump my car up last night, following the change back to Hydro and I had some problems. The right side evacuated and pumped up just fine. I evacuated the left side and connected the pressure hose but could not get the Churchill to pump fluid. It seems to be pumping a small quantity of air and every now and then, a small quantity of fluid. Any quick tips?

I'm figuring a stuck or dirty valve, maybe a dirty screen. Bloody annoying anyway. :x
I'm deeply into this conversion and I was not intending to have a Churchill problem !!

Hi guys,
I've posted the pump instruction plates today to those who have paid. If you want one, PM me as I have some spares.

Glad to help guys. I had 13 plates done and they're all gone now. I'm considering getting another dozen done, what do you guys think?

Al

I will ask the BMC1100 mailing list to see if anyone wants one. They are mainly in America and England.

Looks good fella.
Did you peel off the foil sticker before you painted it or did you just put tape over it?

It had already fallen off before I bought it. The seller just handed it to me when I gave him the cash. I am glad he didn't just bin it!
I just wire brushed the glue off the back and stuck it back on. I also glued the instruction plate on as well as using the pop rivets.
