Hi first post on here. Been a Mini owner off and on for many years.
We currently have a 1970 Mini K which has been in the family from new,
it has been handed down from one generation to the next, still on original motor and trans, never been apart. I have had a few other newies over the years including a couple of Cooper S's. Look forward to reading all the interesting stuff on the forum, and hopefully may been able to contribute a bit as well. Regards Ron.

The Mini K is a beige colour called Sugarcane, my mum bought it new from Gould's Motors in Northcote back in 1970, she hardly used it and in 1994 my Mum died and left it to me, at that stage it had only 11,000 miles on the clock, it had been sitting out in the open for many years and when I got it I resprayed it and had to do things like brakes etc, I then gave it to my daughter to use and she has used it as a daily for the past 15 odd years, it has now done around 120,000 miles, still on the original motor and gearbox, had a couple of clutches and the usual repairs, it is getting close to needing to be taken off the road and given a resto, will post some pics when I get a few.

OOPS, started posting without intro...67 year old male with 31 year old restored modified Cdn. Mini 1000 sedan and custom trailer (on the road) and 1961 Woody (awaiting restoration) on a rack in the garage, over a 1977 MGB with Buick V6 and T5-5 speed, MGB-GT V8 final drive 3.07:1...and....a 1098cc powered 1973 Mini Clubman Window Van with 8.4" Metro brakes in Queensland. Also have a '69 MkII hydro shell that is going to a Mini builder in the B.C. interior.

Built 1st Mini with my younger son who was coming out of high school. Restored/modified Cdn. Mini 1000 with MG Metro 1275, S brakes, twin tanks Black over Red, 100+ mags Yokie GX501 165x10s. Drove that to Mini Meet West in Long Beach, California in 1996, the first of a consecutive string of 17 Mini Meets West and/or East and Mini Meets East Meets West.

Went transcontinental in my own Cdn. Mini 1000 (bought from my older son who was second owner) with warmed up 998cc, Cooper head, MG Metro cam, duplex timing chains, one piece damper, S brakes. And again in 2006 after restore/modify was completed with 1380 and trailer.

Been in more states and provinces in North America in my Mini than in any combination of vehicles I've owned or rented.

Have more bits and pieces for the Woody build than before any other project...but never played with a LWB shell. Torn between building it up as original (BM Heritage Certificate spec) or putting a turbo unit in and go to 4-pot 8.4" brakes. Have custom crank, new rods, turbo block c/w 4-bolt mains, two turbos, etc.

So Mini Nut...and looking forward to doing 'One Lap of Australia' next year in the Window Van.

Oh well, I guess the photo instructions don't work if you are posting from North America, Canada, B.C. or out here in the Fraser Valley....

Thanks to advice offered, I did get a few photos up to go with the earlier words....but pages following 145 disappeared after the site came back from maintenance.

Slightly modified Mini 1000 (Canada) returning from 2000 Mini Meet East in Quebec. Here at Ft. Randall Dam on the Missouri River, violent summer storm to east with lightning while calm sunset to the west (7,500 mile road trip).

Image

After full teardown and restoration/modification and trailer build. Here at Portland's 2006 All British Field Meet, 905 entries and Pooh/Hunny Pot sole honorary mention as Car of Meet awarded to gorgeous E-Jag. Had taken Mini and trailer to Mini Meet West in Prescott, Arizona and driven to Frederick, Maryland for Mini Meet East earlier in the year (8,500 mile road trip).

Image

Stuck in sand on way down the South Saskatchewan River last year on way home from Mini Meet East Meets West in Winona, Minnesota. We were headed for Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to visit a Mini friend (4,900 mile road trip).

Our 1973 Aussie Clubman Window Van for the 'One Lap' next year.

Heading home 6 weeks ago from Mini Meet West 2010 in Penticton. Here on Highway 1 just west of Hope, B.C. with my son Jeremy and wife Quyen in MINI Cooper S in the slow lane.

Image

Heavy snow is rare here on the coast...not for a Mini on this day.

Image

When out in the Jeep we may well be in the back country hunting Mule Deer. Here my older son Tyler with a nice 4-point buck.

Me with a little 2-point (fabulous meat for the freezer):

The 09 Jeep Wrangler gets us around.
