Hey, I'm totally new to this board, and also from Canada, but I don't know too many other classic Mini BBS'.

I have a question though. I have an old 74 Austin Mini 1000, from Canada, but it would seem that it has an ECU. It is a Hitachi AT87 Control Module. I had my friend take a look at it, and he says it's a later model of ECU, possibly from the mid-90's, due to the technical make up of the internals.

Now. The mini I have is in a whole lot of pieces waiting for restoration, but the motor runs, and so on, but it's carb. not EFI. Is there some sort of carb ECU that I haven't heard of?

Thanks.

Welcome Trefmawr,

It could be a control module for the ignition? other than that, not entirely sure. Post some pics..

Check out this Canadian mini forum:

sure it's not a centre point ignition? the can easily be confused with a carb.

Bonjour And welsome to the boards I didn't even know that you could get an ECU for a carb driven motor but as the others have said post some pics and we will probably be able to help you and I agree with the others and what they have said it is probably for the ignition

Pat
