My 1360 van has HIF 44, Maniflow LCB2, 13/4 and twin box RC40. Makes a nice raunchy sound.

My 1310 Cooper S in comparison has a 45 Weber, Brownriggs, 13/4 and a single Lukey S box (NOS from 70s) and that makes a sensational sound, much deeper, louder and more gutsy than the van. A four blade fan and sc box add to the symphony. Puts the noise coming from most V8s to shame.

A tuned 1098 with an LCB and RC40 sounds just like a 1275 would.
:P

cops love P platers who make lots of noise - they always seem to be pulling them over to say hello

quieter minis are much nicer to drive

meeni has a 45mm weber, extractors, 2 inch exhaust that goes into 3 inch after the single hotdog  and sounds scary! im a p plater and coppers just look at it and go, hey look a mini! im going to buy a full stainless maniflow system for it though from the uk purely for looks, aswell as being slightly quieter with the single box muffler on it.. driving on the freeway for more then 10 mins with my system makes your ears bleed

more on topic with the first post though, i just bought an el cheapo sportex rc40 single muffler system from the uk, with extractors for something like 200 bucks, it sounds awesome on the small bore clubby its not too loud on low revs but go up to 3-4000 rpm and its really crisp.. cant go wrong for that money.. well u can, but i dont care if it does

I'm insured with Shannons and `well over' 30, they don't give a rats what carby is on mine.

I will be with shannons but i think it will be because i will be in the young drivers category and apparently we are the high risk category. I might be wrong

They must have changed more recently.

Years ago, I told them (I had to go to one of their offices) that I restored my car myself and showed pics of the restoration etc. And they were happy enough to give me a decent insurance catagory. I was 17 at the time and it was expensive for the first year but got cheaper really quickly and they were not fussed about modifications as long as they were illegal. I did get insurance for 1 year at a ridiculous price when I was 16 as the car was rego'd and insuranced in my name, but paid off quickly when I didn't have any claims.
