Hi. I'm new to this site, and I do not yet have a mini. When i do get one, should i consider installing a 4e-fte engine from a gt starlet. Has anyone done this, and is it more than its worth?

Yes it can be done, do a search...

For the conversion it will cost alot less than 10 grand and can be done within 6months easily.

Not worth it....
His "amazinly technically impressive" machine ONLY JUST beat me on the dyno day ...... (and here's me, with a 1000cc Turbo!!)

by beat i meant Thrash, and by Just I meant Totally - like doubled!

nice conversion..... chat to Brad (13secmini)

J

You are just afraid that if he does do this you won't be one of the fastest mini's round anymore

PS welcome aboard newcomer

Thanks guys. another question, naturally aspirated or turbo? is it better to work a 1275 or to turbo/supercharge a smaller capacity engine?

Ooooh you're just asking for it, especially it being a friday arvo

But before the smartarses chime in, you can have my 2 cents worth:

stick to 1275 - cheap, simple, reliable (but only in that A-series kinda way)

Then if you find that's still not enough, save up and turbo / supercharge the 1275, or go all out on jap engine/gearbox swap

Mike

hmmmmm......... cheap? Not so sure about that, especially if you have to pay someone to do the job...... as whitestriped said somewhere else in this forum, the time is rapidly approaching whereby you will have to start giving your arms and legs to pay for these things
