today was a busy one.

replaced the four ball joints on the front hubs, adjusted all the brakes, checked all the brake cylinders, regreased the drive shafts and cv joints, made sure all the boots were on correctly, replaced the steering rack ends.

whole front end is as tight as virgin now. only bad thing.

now that all the brakes are working, the master cylinder has decided it wants to slowly release, the pedal slowly sinking to the floor on braking.

Jacked up the front and fixed the rattling exhaust heatshield. Actually that's in my 'new' Volvo 740 Estate. $560 and it has 7 leather seats, all the electics work, sunroof, mags etc. It's amazing how much the thing weighs compared to a mini - wasn't sure my trolley jack would cope.

In mini terms, started looking into why the Clubbie Estate isn't running right and cut all the panels I need from an old shell, removed the rear subframe it came with and took the balance to the tip. Which means I now have room in the workshop to get more stuff done with a view to getting the Estate back on the road.

I just changed handbrake cable bracket (the one on the rear drums) so I can put KMACK rear sway bar.

Now have IGN, Headlights & High Beam, Blinkers & Fuel Pump.
I found the Brown with Blue Trace (from soliniod to IGN) must have a brake init so I'v just run another for the time being.
So Unfortunitly that all I have time for today but I'm Happy I have these things now 8)

After many trips to Gran's house to retrieve the moke I decided to get serious. Out came the battery and starter. I took the starter home and apart. The instulation on the stator windings has exploded. Swapped bits with others I have to make one good starter. Then off to SCA to get a battery. THe biggest that would fit.

Put it all together and Vroom!!! Yay. First firing in 18 months at least.

Drove her home in the rain. Everything works still but I think the safe bet is to pull down all the brake and clutch bits to inspect. Then a service she's off to the Muster!!

So good to have her home: Sorry for the Crapberry photos.

Police usually tell owners of fingerprinted vehicles to wipe as much off with a dry rag as water just makes it harder to remove

Helping a mate with his Mk 1 S, - yesterday, front subframe out, steering column and rack out. Hydro bags out. Subframe is being replaced, Dodgy Bros been at work

Today, spare 4 syn remote box stripped, rest of the day cleaning and checking bits. The internals of the box out of the car are a bit sad, all gears, cluster and both synchro hubs need replacing. Some good bits in the spare box tho.

Jacked the rear end up, threw it on stands, removed the rear windscreen, removed the fuel tank (with a little advise), and asked lots of questions about making a 998 turbo!
Most I've done to it in ages!
