hey i've driven a bini
wasn't bad.... in a bmw sort-a-way

watched them 'stretch' the original concept
into soft roading awd's.... with displeasure!

I love how all of the electric vehicle concepts always spruik on about zero emissions. How are they making the electricity to charge the bloody things up with ? :twisted:

Nah, british industry was doomed from the beginning of the seventies. Social unrest due to class inequalities tore the UK apart, along with other factors. There was no way BMC/British Leyland could have survived. Even if they had, there's no way they would have understood how to make an iconic car like the Mini.

I don't mind the BINI (I quite like the smaller version which is apparently going into production) but it's just brand engineering. Slap a MINI badge on it, create a very clever ad campaign aimed at the iPad/Latte/Sauvignon crowd and watch the money come rolling in. I don't regard anything that BMW has done as related to the BMC mini in as much as a penguin is a bird.
