Can anyone out there tell me which green the MK1 Cooper S motor was painted in, in England, when fitted to UK sold cars. Ive read the colour referred to as "English Green" "Forest Green" and "Middle Bronze Green 223"
I know BMC used this last colour on a number of engines in their range but have never read conclusivly that it was used on MK1 S engines
My guess is its the same colour that the engines were shipped to Australia in for assembly into Aus built cars before being resprayed the metalic light green

I agree, the same green as the 850 engines were painted, I have a untouched Mk 1 S block that still retains its original paint, BMC engine green under the metalic green, interesting the inside of the block/casting is painted red.

I have the paint code for the "850" green if you need it. (I had it matched to a original painted rocker cover)

Hi guys,
The photo above appears on my screen to be quite different to any BMC green I've seen. Here is a link that might help.
