Greetings all.
850 motor.
Double checking:
Piston #1 at TDC
Piston # 4 tappets rockinig
F/Wheel on 1/4 timing mark.
I have inserted dissy shaft as per manual. Pictures below show how it all looks.
Q1: Does the dissy shaft look in right position?
Q2: Does the rotor position look right? &
Q3: Is the white mark on the Distributor cap #1 spark lead?

This is a dry fit, I will use new points, cap and leads.
Appreciate any comments. Or even a pic of Dissy with no cap view.

Cheers Alex.

Its all i nteh offset, the cut is not central across the shaft, adn the dizzy will only lock into position if it is pointing in one particular direction.

If you now insert the distributor, the rotor will lock into the slot with the rotor arm pointing in either the 2 or 8 o'clock position.
If it is 2, then you have done very well. If it points to 8, then you need to remove the shaft and reinsert it 180 degrees around from the last time. Once you have the rotor pointing to 2 o'clock then this is your new positition for the number 1 cylinder's spark plug lead.

Thanks Mick

Did you pan across and see all three pictures? I couldn't work out how to resize them.
The pictures show slot in hole, the dissy fitted into slot and what I think is #1 spark lead on dissy. If the fitted dissy is pointing roughly to 2 o'clock, then I'm OK?
Thanks again

(Could you kindly re-post yr pics so that they are one under the other? Will fit better on the screen  )

All looks good to me, just might need to check yr static ignition timing, and clean out the dissy cap (Yuk!)

No I hadn't noticed it was awide load post...but yep it does look good like GT says.

When you post each image link, post them one below the other perhaps with a blank line in between.
Picture size isn't a problem, detail is a good thing mostly..

Thanks GAFMO, Mick and GTMOWOG.
Will get my computer skills better.
Thanks for feedback.
Stange thing just happened. An old fella who cruises the block with his dog finally came up the drive and said "I've seen ya Mini when the sheds open, I used to be a Mini mechanic may years ago" (ha!).
Fancy that. He's just around the corner and offered to assist if I get stuck!

Anyhow, I'm feeling confident to proceed. Almost ready to drop it in. Mini's @ the Mill, I'll be there!!!

Alex.,

Thats just brilliant and you have to enjoy it when it happens. When We moved into our present house we had the 1 Mini. We were warmly from everyone around but 1 fella specially. When we settle in he popped on over while we were in the Garage and introduced himself. Allen was one of the original people at MOSS in the UK and had many a quick Mini when he was young. Lets just we have a Great relationship and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty from time to time and is eagerly waiting for my Van to be on the road. Additional I also have Dr Mini around a few corners also. Am I luck You bet Ya. The wealth of knowledge around the corner is amazing
