As bnicho says do not cut big holes in the side boxes, they are structual in these cars.

There are actually a few types of MX5 seats, most do sit high as bnicho has said, but the early ones go in the same as stock  and I think - not sure - that it is only these that have the built in speakers.

Again, there is heaps of discussion on the different MX5 seats on the Moke forum. There's even a template available for making up the mountings.

The NA series seats are the smaller ones, and are also the only ones that have the headrest speakers. NB series seats are a very tight squeeze.

Allegedly the headrest speakers are pretty poor quality and are an odd shape or size which is difficult to find aftermarket replacements for. But what is poor quality to one person is perfectly acceptable to another. :)

EDIT: I like those clamp-on speakers! Great idea!

Cheers,
Brett.

My brothers MX5 had those seats and the speakers were akin to holding your iPod headphones just outside your ears. There si sound, but nothing you would sit there and think "awesome" to yourself

those rokford speakers though..............*WANT*
