Hey, nice score there!

Yes I agree, from that promotional advert, if you blotted out the SS badges it would otherwise appear same as (998) LS, right down to the wheels, however they are (according to the LS Suppliment) 4.5" rims and the tyre placard I posted earlier for the SS shows 5.0" rims. Every SS I have seen (and I think Graeme H agreed earlier ^) has the rims as Graeme H posted on the Right.

So the SS come with 4.5" rims too?

They are 5" wheels, they all are.
Please post a pic of a 4 1/2 " Contessa, I would love to see it.
Dave

This should help to clear it all up.

Pic taken from a very original 998LS

Image

As well as this every one of the rims I have and have seen are all 5"

OK, thanks. I'll dig out that wheel that I have kicking about here and see what it is.

Cheers

Oh, yeah that reminds me. The reason my brother wanted that wheel is because the spare in is GT was on a 5.0" rim with a 145 tyre and the boot board wouldn't go in the right place. After grabbing that rim from that LS with the 145 tyre, the boot board fitted as it should

I'll dig it out and measure it.

Cheers guys.

check your center holes & center caps,,, that`s where you`ll see the difference between the "Factory-Fitted" (std mini-off-set) mags,,, or the non-factory-fitted std mini offset mags

i thought they were all 5" & it`s the tyre choice that fattens them up making the boot board sit high

however, as far as i`m aware, there is only the one "Factory-fitted" LS mag & that has the "S" offset

soooo,,, ROH made 3 rims-->

(1) std offset "Factory" SS mag 5" wide
(2) "S" offset "Factory" LS mag 5" wide
(3) std offset "Non-Factory" mag also 5" wide but with different center hole & different center cap to suit than the "Factory" mag

well that`s the way i`ve always seen them,,, but there is always room for the dealer to fit whatever the customer asks

I`ve never seen a 4.5" contessa,,, but i`ve not seen everything (yet) ;-)

Steve,,, from memory,,,, (Fading miserably these days) ;-) the GENUINE caps are the same as the ones you posted above ---> for "BOTH" the std factory (mini & "S") off-set rims

the rim itself has a certain diam (can`t remember what it is) but the "Non-Gen" ROH mag ,,, that looks the same as the Gen one,,, has a different diam to the GEN one & also a different Lip/shoulder inside the hole in the center of the rim, for the different (Non-Gen) cap

one has a lip at the outer edge & the other has a ridge/groove machined into it further inward on the center hole

still don`t know about a 4.5" rim but that doesn`t mean they weren`t an early version... i spose,,, My dad & John Shmidt would know if anyone does i`d reckon

The ones on the Left in your pic I have to say that I have never seen before or if I have, never paid particular notice too. I am not aware that they were factory fitted or optioned. Are they marked in any way with a brand / type?

<Michael, please stop baiting GT mowog. Not everyone knows everything>

The one on the left that you do not recognise is an LS wheel.
