Nicely written introduction John, but what else could we expect from a writer.

I'm sure nobody will hold your mistake against you, especially since you have explained it and are now in the process of putting it right. I look forward to seeing what questions you pose (and the answers :!: ) and to getting a copy of the new book when it is realeased.

Cheers
Steve

Thank you for the welcome. I have some pictures of the Radford but being a computer dinosaur, I cannot see how to copy and paste them onto the forum gallery. On emails there is a little `attach' icon, but I cannot see one here. Some guidance would be appreciated.

Yes, I know Craig, and we have corresponded many times. TME is the only Mini magazine I subscribe to. That reminds me, I need to renew.

Regards,

John

Welcome John - when the publishers complain about the size of the book just point out the pre-publication sales from this forum alone will cover the costs

Thank you for the thought David,

My publisher's patience has been really tested with this book. I have been working on it for five years now. It is the research that takes the time. Most of the manuscript has been submitted to show good faith, but the last two chapters (competition Mini Coopers is the other one) are proving a real challenge. There is a lot more to Australian cars than I ever imagined. As they say, the devil is in the detail and it is impossible to do the subject justice without thoroughly immersing oneself in the whole culture of the cars and the people who own them.

There are Australian Cooper S police cars to write about too, which Doug Jenkins is kindly helping me with, so it is all shaping up nicely and I am thoroughly enjoying the exchange of dialogue on the forum. I have many of the UK parts lists and all of factory bulletins so it offers a good opportunity for me to return the favours by passing information back if I can help someone in Oz with a query.

Kind regards,

John

Hi Harry. Welcome to ausmini! Would love to see pictures of your car. Hope you enjoy your time on here.

Hi again. I finally figured out the photo posting thing, so here's a couple shots of the rebuild for your amusement:Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 Metal work all finished - ready to smooth panels
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 BRG 2K in the garage - not recommended, but happy with result
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 Roof painted, body (mostly) in highbuild primer;
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 Body painted! Still very manageable at this stage.
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 Fitout underway. Rotisserie makes life easy. Could have used your input here - who can remember in which order to replace brake, fuel and battery lines? Note NO hydraulic lines - converted to solid suspension, but I've kept the original sub frames with S displacers.
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 Progressing - rolls and steers, but a big vacancy in here. All the spinny around bits are in Sydney with GR - we still haven't decided final specs, so I doubt I'll have it mobile for Xmas.
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 This side is wearing (apparently very rare) Dunlop LP918 5x10" reverse rims.
Image
By yeeha58 at 2010-10-21 And on this side, we have a pair of 10x5 100+ alloys. (I seriously need 2 more, so if you have a couple in the shed, and a spare left side Recaro LS for that matter, please give me a call). Also, I've got a good chance to get a set of 10x6 Mercury rims with A008's from the UK and the new Mambas are bringing a smile to my face. Your feedback would be appreciated.

Anyhoo, that's my little car. I just keep plodding away, and one day........
