My greatest fear in life is that when I die my wife will sell my Mini and tools for the price I told her I paid for them!

i think one of those engine cranes is coming my way this weekend.

i can use my next project as an excuse, it's been signed off on by the minister of finances... the project that is, just have to sneak the tools in there somewhere!

I bought one yesterday, managed to get it into the mini.

But its 2x 50kg boxes, one is pretty long too so it's a squeeze.
As for the crane, the crane looks well made, but the instructions are useless for putitng it together.

I also haven't worked out yet how to lower it.. twisting the jack handle is a no go

yeah i built it from the picture too.

to lower it you use the end of the jack handle to undo the "screw" on the jack. just like a normal bottle jack

well made except for the after thought bracing on the top boom!

gotta love the flat bar welded on the bolt in middle to wind out any bow or bend you may get int the boom!

still great for my purpose and folds up small enough to fit in a back corner of the shed and not draw any attention from SWMBO as a new addition!

Cheers for that, i was expecting to twist the handle while it was in the jack bit, like a trolley jack.

Did you notice in the picture that the long bits of flat go on the outside of the legs, but you have to mongrel them into the inside of the legs to get them to fit?

Looks like a good bit of kit, especially for $200.. laughing!

my support legs went on the outside no probs,

i loose bolted everything then tightened, maybe that makes a difference?

overnight the bottle jack on mine has dumped all its oil on the floor...

i hate having to deal with refunds at most companies anyone have knowledge of supercraps?

i'm hoping to just take the bottle jack in there and they can swap it out of another, then return for credit the one on the floor with dodgy bottle jack...

i used to do this all the time for customers when i worked at the big green shed, much easier for them to bring in the small dodgy bit than a whole bbq or engine crane....

although i do like the idea of this too...

Ive returned a few things with super cheap, shouldnt be too hard to swap over the jacks. If not talk to a manager and work something out that way.

I got one on special, had it delivered for free too, which was nice when buying online. All good great piece of equipment for 200 bucks. Steel in it alone is worth more than that. As with everything the quality is relative to the price. Perfect for me as I,ll be lifting a engine in and out maybe 5 times in my lifetime.

Agreed, i really only bought it to help me lift up the moke and what not, doubt i'll ever be pulling any engines out, but i WILL have engines that need to be moved around the garage
