My cam's powerband falls between 3500-8250. My Mini'd growl is loud. Neighbours complain if I rev it to hard.

Normal driving around gear changes, maybe around the 3500 mark. For flogging it, and making a loud sound, I go up to around 5500.

In the 1960s Honda was well known for its racing motorcycles that reved to 18,000 or more. What was not well known was that Honda was fiddling the tacho drives so that the tacho was showing very high.
The other teams thought that Honda was winning because of high revs and tried to build motors that would rev the same.

Honda CBR250RR's Redline at a genuine 18,000rpm ;) ..funny story though..haha all the other teams trying to make motors that rev, but blow up.

No tacho in "The Heinz" at the moment but I think that it would be doing about 5000 to 7000 rpm at full throttle (That is full speed, off the speedo [90mph]) When I get the tacho in I will let people know.

5000-7000 is a big range..that's like 120-160km/h..you wouldn't hit much past 5 if at all in a clubby s if anywhere near stock..

You need to give it a rev and clean all the cobwebs out ;)

For me..7000..tops in the first couple of gears..once it hits 3rd 6.5k...Around town anywhere from 3-5k...usually fanging it around traffic though

Another zero, zip, nadda here.

But mostly sorted now even if it is still in bits - am advised a 7500 redline is realistic for what we are putting in Donkey2.

yeah twista, me thinking the same lines as you atm with Vivs
new gearbox and block, plus i cant go revving her tits off just yet
as she will need to be run in b4 i start thrashing her (gently  )

the old 1100cc (blue one) used to be i think 5k when the valves started to
get bouncy, but there was never any use pushing the poor thing that
hard, not much extra use (besides kinda fun, she sounded nice!

On my Moke according to the new tacho I just put in, I don't get much above 5000rpm when pushing in any gear.. Tacho says I am doing 4000rpm at 100/kph????

Engine is 1310cc with extractors & single 1 3/4 SU...

You'll be able to do 7000 for sure, just make sure it's run in first! Remember the "Don't let this happen to you" conrod

How well does the A series engines take to being revved out a lot?
I wouldn't thrash a mini, but would like to get it moving every now n then beyond an old barina or something.
I've been told if you take a 1275 past 3500-4000 every gear change, you will need a new engine after 30,000 kms. I thought this was pure crap, but was the guy right?
