Hi all
Can any one recommend a mini friendly engineering shop in brizzy.

I need some valve guides pushed out and some new ones pushed in on a 940 head and a ruff price on what it should cost.
After reading jesters engine rebuild thread……. I’ll give Chilton engineering a ring, but if any one could give me any others that they would recommend it will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Neil

I must get those numbers to you for the engineering ones on the coast.. I completely forgot to get them for you mate. I'll see what I can find today. :)

The work you are describing is very simple stuff for any cylinder head refurbishing workshop. You won't need to go very far from where you are to get that done. I used to use Mendham Engineering at Rocklea a lot when I was up there however, they used to be quite good, but like I said, just look for a cylinder head reconditioner.
I think for price, you will be looking at less than 180 dollars if you provide them the head alone.

Hi neil,

chiltons are great, but i have also used southside cylinder heads at mt gravatt recently for valve guides etc. they were very good also.

i can recommend either of those. otherwise, at work we use brisbane cylinder heads at the gabba often, and barclay engineering at archerfield, again both are very good engineering shops although i have not used them for anything mini related.

good luck

Jason

Barclay's is good too so I've heard. Paul Barclay used to learn his mini stuff at Ian Wells Automotive (no longer around).

Thanks everyone………. name’s have been written down and phone numbers will be looked up and calls will be made tomorrow.

I did pop into south side cylinder heads today because I was driving by……they where only asking 12 bucks to push the valve guide out and to push one back in.

Which sounds quite reasonable to me?
I’m supplying the new parts as well…….I’m half tempted to have a go at this myself and make up a press …….but I’m not looking at doing more heads in the future.
So I’ll ring around……..just wanted to know who people have used and trust.

Thanks Mick, Jason and tk for your response……..
Cheers Neil

Even you lockie……….lol
