Isnt the roundie speedos that differ, where as clubby speedos are all the same?

There were a few different diff ratios used so not all the same inside the speedo head.
1098/remote box had a 3.647 diff, the 998/rodchange box had a 3.44.
Oz Clubby GT was a 3.44 also.

But now you're just getting technical ;)

If i remember correctly, the last proper GT one went for some astronomical amount. They are rare and people are willing to pay for them.

you could just reprint the tacho face with a revised redline and with the 120mph speedo you would essentially have a GT cluster.

Neither of those on ebay are GT although one does have a GT speedo.

The Speedo Heads were different depending on what diff ratio is fitted, but most had a 3.44 diff fitted, except the early ones with the 1100 engines which had 3.76 diffs so these heads were different. Not sure if it was when they went to the (imported) 998 or the rod shift box that they all went to the 3.44 diff.

The Ozzy Clubbie GT had a dual scale 120 mph / 200 kmh speedo and while the Tachos in all the clubbies went to 8000 RPM, however the GT was redlined at 6500 RPM and all other OZ Clubies at 5500 RPM.

There are two English GT Tacho which is also similar, one is redlined at 6500 RPM and the other, later one at 6000 RPM.

Hiya,

The English GT ones are nearly identical, although the typeface saying MPH is slightly different in size.

You have to look very closely to pick it though.

cheers! jon

Yes, and well you really don't have to look that closely! The English lettering is about twice the size as the Oz ones.

Take a look at the colour of the needles.

The ones on Ebay have orange needles.
The ones in GT Mowog's photos have white needles.

Interesting point.

Apparently they were fitted with both red (or orange) or white needles and the parts book does also say this.

I have owned a quite a few Oz GT's over the years and there have been a few others in the family, these have all had white needles. I have not seen a genuine set with red ones but I do have what appears to be a 'made up' set with red needles.

Does anyone have a know genuine set with the red needles?

I don't really know much about them, I have spotted the different needles before but never paid much attention.
My Clubman parts book has one number for the instruments and written in pen it gives another number and says "Red Needle"

So at an educated guess I would say the white needles came first!

My 11/72 GT had red needles when i got it. They are the correct Gt clocks.
My 12/71 GT has white needles. Again they are the correct Gt clocks

So my conclusion is they swapped over somewhere in between. But white came first.

OK, Ta. There are no change points or time or car no. specified as a change point and I recall reading somewhere that there was no rhime or reason as to what colour needles where fitted, just 'luck' on the day, or so it it said????

Personally, I don't like the look of the Red ones, they look cheap!
