Just wondering...has anybody found any CF seats that would fit a mini?

Looking for something a bit racy such as Cobras or Recaros but if I could get CF then.... 8)

Just keep in mind that if they are for road use they have to be ADR approved, and Competition use CAMS and ADR approved

That means every seat imported personally into Oz is illegal for road use? That can't be right surely?

So long as they exceed the ADR level.
But yes they would all be illegal, the sketchy part is what year car it came from and what year car it is going into.

I'm fairly confident that pre 1969 there were no ADRs. So in theory you can fit any seats that is
equal to what was fitted........... Which were rubbish realy. :lol:

Plenty of imported seats carry the ADR tags. But I'm yet to see any carbon fibre ones.

Pre-1969 you can put in whatever you like provided it's well mounted according to VicRoads. Not sure about other states.

Try Reverie. They do carbon fibre seats for lotus exige/elise. They will fit and are ADR approved for aus. Hope you have deep pockets tho

Drift make a reasonably small racing seat that comes in steel frame, carbon fibre, or kevlar and is somewhat more affordable.

Autobarn are the Australian distributors so you can see them localy there.

Ill be going with the steel framed ones in my mini when its done.

It says carbon/kevlar but the photo looks mostly Kevlay. Kevlar is the yellow fabric.

Generally speaking, kevlar is better for impact resistance than carbon and is cheaper to repair. Everyone goes nuts over carbon though.

If I was going to spend money on a composite door or the like it would have kevlar in it. I'd paint it in the moulds too..

Seconded on the kevlar. Carbon is good, but its mainly wank factor.
Inegra or fibreglass (not chop strand) is another option with inegra being best for non-structural.
And another common myth, composites weak link is the resin, too much or too little and their strength is reduced.
