It is possible to buy harnesses that are ADR compliant, I have one here. Bought a while back from Autobarn, it's going in the van...
However you will lose rear seat accommodation if fitted, Mr Plod may take a dim view.

My car has a 3 point harness that hooks onto 2 lower mount eyebolts, the rear mount is an eyebolt on the (reinforced) parcel shelf.
I leave the front inertia reel belt installed then clip the harness in on track days. AT the track...

I also have a car seat in the back for Sebastian once a week. Don't want to put him at risk. I've bought 3 point harness already, which has ADR 4/03 approved stamped on everything.

You're not exactly obstructing access to anything.

Well if your harnesses are ADR approved then it should be ok. As with the Dr, the 2 front mounts will use the stock belt mounts, but the 3rd mount will need to be plated from underneath according to the Mod specs. Think its like 5cm by 5cm by 3cm plate with chamfered edges.

You would need to have the back seat removed and the seating capacity reduced to 2 people.

Had not planned to. The old man runs a harness in his major, and I thought all was honky-dory if I and ADR approved harness. Will ponder some more and maybe plead ignorance if the flashing blue and reds do appear.

If it looks strange then it must be wrong, thats their idea of understanding,

I came across one the other day, who stopped me because my tyres were sticking out past the flares, but after I explained that the car was a classic and thats how they were back in 1969, be looked confused and said that is that was the case then everything was OK. and by the way it looks really cool......

Mine is a 1988 model, rover, and he was an 1987 ning nong....

Just going thru the process of seat and belts with my Volvo 164 (in Victoria), the seat is ADR approved (SAAS) and on the original seat bracket but it needs to be approved by a VASS engineer, seat belts cannot be replaced by harnesses (mine are FIA 3" 6pt) if they are inertia reel and cannot share mounts. I have mounted eye bolts and clip the harness in for race days only. If the car wasn't fitted with inertia reels then it would be up to the engineer. Any mounting would have to be checked by an engineer. If it interferes with passenger seating, the seating needs to be removed and registration changed to reflect the new maximum. It pays to keep a folder with all approval certificates in the vehicle, saves arguments if you get pulled up. Seat belts are a major safety item you can't alter them without approval, you can also risk losing your insurance for non approved modifications.

Can they share mounting points if the original belts are NOT inertia reel do you know? Edit - I think you already answered this now I re-read your post.

Does anyone know if the mounting eyelets that come standard with the better quality belts High-tensile (and actually marked 8.?

Will be seeing the engineer for inspection next Wednesday and i will clarify if you can substute the original mounting bolts for eyelet type bolts,( so the eyelet holds your original belt in place) the premises being that your either using one belt or the other. In my case this was not practible due to the way they mounted.

in our moke we have a drivers harness and a single seat behind the passenger and we are aloud to drive.

It's covered under Vehicle Standards Bulliten 14, NCOP7 section LK, http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... _ncop.aspx thou some areas are vague and up to the engineer.
