yep Kiwiinwgtn is correct here. I grease my dad's 24 tonne truck for him every 3 months after his travels around Aus, and well I dread it, cos the air grease gun is a PITA... it leaks, and can all of a sudden work great, then next minute it has an air lock and the grease isant coming though, so you must prime it by hand.. and it is an expensive truck brand.. tho I have my nick nacks and you can get it to work fairly well after you've done it 100 times or more... one of the reasons he leaves it to me..
Hold it with a rag like suggested and apply pressure to it, and sometimes if you put the nozzle on a particalar/ just the right angle on the nipple this will help it..
Also make sure you clean the grease nipple very well before applying the nozzle.
