The last thing a race Mini needs is GOOD rear brakes. Somewhere I have an old pic of Peter Manton braking for Creek Corner at Warwick Farm, with both rear wheels off the ground. :P

I have the same set up on my mini.
I hope you got the KAD Adjustable bias brake pedal box when you got the rear KAD discs , it really is the only way to get the rear brakes working perfect!
The rear KAD discs and the pedal box are fantastic, it's the best hand brake I have ever had on my mini ( no more hand brake turns for you anymore).

You will still have to adjust the rear hand brake every four or five thousand Km and the brake pads can be bought from most motorbike shops .
Do you have four pots for the front?

Looks good with the rear disks. I retained the drum brakes when fitting mine.
Did you have any trouble with the hand brake quadrants ?
Did they foul the arm when trying to apply the handbrake ?

I had no problems fitting the KAD rear arms and hand brake quadrants.

The KAD rear disc set up on my mini was under $900 when I got them 7 years ago .
Sure - it's a fare bit of money for rear brakes on a mini , but I never liked the rear drums ,I have put up with adjusting and trying to get drums to work really well on a mini for 20+ years .
Now drums can work well for a while ,but in the end it's just one more thing that needs to be adjusted when I would rather be enjoying driving my mini.

it'd be interesting to compare the rear disks against drums when using a hyrdaulic handbrake - correct adjustment aside, drums should be a lot better at locking up the wheels due to the much larger contact surface...

Friction surface area apparently has little to to with ultimate grip, for example you could have brake shoes with 1/2 or 1/4 of the area and they would offer the same ultimate "grip" but would overheat much quicker,

Having the KAD rear disc setup my self, I would say the handbrake is not as good as a decent set of drums, I think this is due to the ability to distort the drums enough to make them "grab", on the other hand I think this same effect make the KADs better in general use, more consistent...
