Finally got my 4 wheel alignment done at Stuckey Tyres, plus 2 new A-008's fitted on the front.

Firstly what a difference new supple/flexible rubber makes to the ride quality. No I'm not talking about handling or grip, but just the smoothness and lack of 'patter' of the ride. The rear tyres will be ditched for new rubber ASAP, after I recover financially from Christmas!

I also scored some NOS ROH emblems for my ROH contessa mags. :D Note: I took the last ones he had, sorry. 8)

Hang on... You have A008s on the front and you have what on the rear?
And you are going to wait till after Christmas to fit new rears?
Will you be driving the car like this?

Sorry maybe I have confused you. I have road legal A-008's on the back, the only thing wrong with them is they have aged and the rubber is not as soft as it was when new. They are not cracking, and the tyre place said they are fine. The point I was trying to make is the new tyres fitted today to the front impart a complete different feel to my ride. 8)

Oh good, I thought for a minute that you had good tyres on the front and dungers on the back.
Do be careful about the difference in grip in the wet though, if it feels like oversteer when you lift the foot in a corner pull up and swap the front to the rear.
For normal road use it is safer to have more grip on the rear.

Point taken. Jan or Feb and they will be gone. They (old ones) still hang on very well in the wet, but I understand the grip balance would now be tipped in favour of the new ones on the front.

Jim :)

Refitted the brake lines , installed the booster and plumbed it in. Discovered the glass in-line petrol filter won't fit -need a right angle one instead. Adjusted the clutch throw out setting. Gave it a good grease after changing the new (metric?) head for an old (imperial?) head - works good now.

Sorry to hear that Kimini. I also lost my old man recently so I know where you are comming from.
He would have wanted you to get into it and finish what he was helping you with.
I wish I had more pics of my old mans mini Vans

Thankyou Gaf, and sorry for your loss too. Its a cruel world this one sometimes!

I will be having a little 'repaired by Ron' plaque made to stick on the fuel tank, when its painted, in honour of Dad  !

It was Dad that 'approved' and inspected my mini, when i bought it at 17. So he will be my main reason now for finishing her! Like you say, just what he would have wanted :D .
