The solid tube that goes from the rear to the front. Do I have to remove the rear subframe to remove and fit it or can it be taken out and in with the subframe in place?

You won't be able to do it with the rear subframe in place, but you may not have to take it right out either. If you leave the rear mounts bolts up and maybe the the shocks, you might be able to swing it down just far enough to get the fuel tube (and brake line, battery cable and what ever else) out and / or in.

I've have only ever done it while the subframe has been completely out for other reasons though.

Bugger - and I've just fitted the rear subframe!

Anything else I have to fit with the subframe out? Brake line?

Thought you'd say that!

Fuel Line (LHS)
Battery Cable (RHS),
Brake Line RHS),
Vapor Return Line (RHS - if it has one)
