George?

George Moore run a workshop in Melbourne (Falkner) for a number of years that specialised in repair of mini autos, I wonder if it was him.

Les's Co Driver was Graham Moore. Will talk to Les in the next few days and will ask him if he recals the sticker or cam company's etc. I asked him a while back and he doesn't remember.

I,m sure the logo at the bottom of the panel sticker is this ( the one on the car is just a little wider than the one I found )

Image

( actually its a reproduction thats not accurate its supposed to have 500 on it not 1000 )

and I,m going to guess the main round panel sticker with be a history of the race from the Armstrong 500 at Philip Island onwards with the Armstrong logo in the middle

my 2c

I have never seen that logo before. I doubt it existed in 1969 let alone 1963.

Its a reproduction as I,ve stated , , the Bathurst race was the Armstrong 500 till 65 , the panel sticker and the logo I found is the closest match ( yes I know squint and turn sideways a little they are similar and yes it should have 500 not 1000 )
.

If it was going to have any sticker to signify the race it would have been the Hardie Ferodo 500 sticker like the one on this Falcon....

I,m getting my dates mixed up  , yes Gallagher 500 then Hardie-Ferodo 500 from 68 , ( ignore what I said earlier ) . Now, when did BMC pull out and then the private teams had to continue ? , being post 68 could it be a private team panel sticker ?
.

1969 was the first year that the cars could have any advertising sticker.

Yes he drove Commodores later on, Graham Moore was a very good driver, he drove for a lot of years in a variety of cars and always drove well. In XU1's he was nearly as quick as Brock in cars that were probably inferior in a lot of ways.
A vastly underrated driver.

Just to correct myself, 1968 was the first year that advertising was allowed.

Better late than never, I have just received a message from a bloke that was on the pit crew of this car at Bathurst and he says the sticker is from Hugo's Dyno Tune in Jesmond.

Any young hood from the Hunter Valley worth his salt had to have his car tuned on Hugo's dyno
