No wonder the original seam sealer was slapped on everywhere. Must have been a bottle neck on the production line :?:

Today I:
Fitted and wired in my new Smiths stepper motor tacho. Modified and burned new settings to the Megasquirt so as to provide the tacho with engine RPM output.
Started car, all to easy; looks good and it works!

:D

Not today, but yesterday: replaced starter solenoid, oil change and drive up to Mt. Glorious. Sadly, spotted no mini's on the drive - just cashed-up bogans riding their R1's :(

Primed the left side, started to dynamat, ground down my gear shifter to fit my new knob, pulled out the ancient loom to install my universal loom kit. Then cleaned my pig sty of a garage.

I also cleaned my garage a bit today. I found a Cooper S that I haven't seen in a long while!

How long does it have to sit before it can be called a barn find?

You can't tell from the photos doc but the door wouldn't fit in the opening anymore. Even with adjusting the hinges

I also cleaned up my garage, threw away all of the bottles on the bench which were half full of old dried paint and turps and then built a new trolley for the project body to sit on when I finally remove it from the rotiserie in the next month.

Finally getting the motivation to get the mini back on the road.

Put Henry up on stands and removed the radius arms. Going to clean off the years of grease and grime, repaint and replace them with new shocks(KYB will do I think - was going SPAX but really dont think they will be any different) and doing the rubber cones as well. Hope the radius arms are in good nick so I can move onto the wiring.

On the wiring, is it really worth the aggravation cleaning and repairing the loom or just bite the bullet and buy a new one? I started the cleaning and I have a big bunch of spaghetti that once was the loom - frustrates me to tears!!

Hooroo

I bought an ezy wiring kit on ebay with the mini blade fuses.
Ill be installing it this week but it looks very straight forward, I think it was around $300 delivered. I'll let you know how it goes with photos, im looking forward to having more than two fuses...

Today I:
Not much as had to catch the train then tram over to the eastern suburbs to pick up my ex Mother-In-Law's Lexus which they have asked me to sell for them. Managed to fit it in the garage along with my Renault and of course the Mini.
    Image

Had some spare time, so I decided to get out the sisal buffing wheel and mount it on the bench grinder and polish the spare SU bell housing that will be going over the SU TBI adapter. I think it came out looking good, I haven't used any hand polish on it yet, like Mothers etc 8)

Just looking at the garage photo, you know I reckon I could fit another mini in there if I tried... wonder if I can afford to?
