Hey people, just wondering if I can get a few people to post photos of how they've mounted their fire extinguishers?
In my last car I had it on the cross member just under the passengers seat, but that was only a little one. I want something more serious this time so will be looking bigger.
Problem I have is no room on the inner guard because of AC setup, so want to see what others have done.

I don't have a photo but, i do know of them being mounted in the rear side compartments. I have a 1kg fire extinguisher underneath the front passenger seat attached to the cross member.

I always put mine on the front of the cross member on the driver's side, the idea being that I can reach it with the seat belt on. It looks like it would be in the way or get trodden on or something, but in reality it is just fine there. There isn't much point having it somewhere that you can't reach in a hurry, particularly if you are upside down.

I know that i can reach back into both rear side pockets with my seatbelt on with ease.

I made a bracket that used (went under) the 2 existing screws that hold the check strap.

I've got a race seat and a roll cage in the way so my options are a little more limited. I was thinking in terms of being trapped in your seat after a crash and what you can reach with the belt on tightly. My road cars were mostly clubbies, so I was thinking high back seats and inertia reel belts. Access is probably a lot easier in a round nose with low back seats, so yeah, the rear pockets should be fine. The passenger side one might be an issue if you have a passenger back there.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that you need to think about the worst case scenario when working out where to put safety equipment. Otherwise you might as well leave it in a box in the boot.

I have a lot of space issues in my car. Back parcel shelf was looking tempting for a while (in case of emergency I might have to break the glass!) but definitely not practical.

Might have to go with the crossmember below the drivers seat.

I fit Fusible links and make sure fuse box is up to scratch in my cars instead. Much lighter and less bulky to carry around. Prevention is better than cure.

I have everything fuse protected, but an extinguisher still might be handy, if not for my car then somebody elses. I'll carry a small first aid kit for the same reason.

Went to supercrap last night and picked up a 750 gram extinguisher with bracket for less than $15 on sale. It's just small enough to fit between the seat mounting brackets, making installation neat and simple.

I'd worry about installing under the drivers seat. yes it would be easy to reach in a hurry, but what about if it came loose and rolled under the pedals?

In all the years I spent at race tracks I have never seen a driver get out of a burning car with a fire extinguisher.
I have always seen them get out of the burning car first and then think about the fire second.
So it does not really matter where the extinguisher is, just as long as it is mounted securely (not in a plastic wall mount) and as long as it can't hurt the occupants in a crash. Under the dash or in front of the door opening are not real clever when the car folds up and you need that extra space to avoid breaking your knees or legs.

Stick the damn thing in the boot, you are going to get out of the car anyway. It is a good place to disconnect the battery too.

I think that's why I put it under the passengers side in my last car.

I mounted one on the cross member in front of the passenger seat, I did this for all my minis.

When working on the car I had it on the ground next to the engine bay, it saved my purple clubby, and the one I had in the black one nearly came into use on one of the c/c mini cruises after an acco.
