No problems, don't quote me, but maybe just maybe it will be running by end of next week, if not earlier... just have to pull my finger out.

No. School holidays, other life events etc etc. Hope to do after next Tuesday though (hopefully).
I'm still deciding on where to mount fuel reg, also looks like I might have to flow test the injector myself as I now have 3 conflicting flow rates with around 30% variance, and no figures for the injector turn on/off times (latency). I know I can get the car going without these figures, but I think (rightly or wrongly) it would be better if the correct figures were found and used. :?

Have you had any feedback regarding the length you can have the fuel pressure regulator from the throttle body?

Do you need to connect the vac hose to it to use as a rising rate regulator or do/can you set it at a fixed pressure?

Watching with much interest. :)

Thanks Dave. This is the response I received from Rick Patton:

Hi Rick,

I'm very close to finishing up my installation of Megasquirt on a '68 Mini. I've had a suggestion from a member on the Ausmini web forum to mount the fuel regulator in the boot near the fuel tank. I like this idea, as it would free up valuable room, (don't forget it's a mini engine bay), and also means I don't have to run a return line under the car, and finally it allows me to return the car back to standard if required easily.

My question is on your web site FAQ's there is a comment that you should keep the output to the injectors line length less than 3'. I understand that there would be some pressure drop, which I could compensate for, but is there another obvious reason, and if so can it be worked around?

Finally here is my topic on the ausmin forum, you may wish to wait to the completion of the project if you wish to link etc to the site. http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... highlight= <http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=67644&highlight=>

Regards,

Jim Bartlett

Hello Jim,

Just looked over your project. Nice job and anxious to see it on the road.

As far as locating the regulator far from the injectors it should work but you may find yourself adjusting the fuel map due to a drop in pressure under heavy demand. We found that on systems that we sell that use a close to final profle when shipped it makes a ton of extra work trying to compensate for installation differences such as this during final tuning. By using a return line the pressure stays constant at the point where it's needed. You could always do some experimenting and if it's an issue relocate the regulator later on.

Rick Patton

Bottom line is I'm trying for the boot installation as per your suggestion. I can adjust for pressure drop. TBI don't use rising rate regulators. The small barb you see on the regulator is for overflow, I'll be teeing this off with the Rover overflow pipe. 8)

If it all works, I'll owe you a beer or two!

Updated for Day 6!

Not that much, but hopefully tomorow a lot more if I don't expire in the forecasted 40c heat! 8)

Due to the heat, (I might move to Tassie yet!), and also I discovered that the new Rover EFI filter has different size inverted flare thread nuts, so this means most of the fuel system at the rear of car is held up until I can get these... maybe Monday. That's my excuse anyway.

Updated for Day 8!

A Few questions:

Anyone know where I can get one of these in a hurry, I lost it today:
http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=37553&title=

Picking up the 5/16" bundy pipe tomorrow. the existing 1/4" fuel pipe comes along the car and then goes between the rear subframe.

I think it will be near impossible to do the same with the new pipe as I'd have to remove the subframe. Would bringing it just over the bottom of the subframe and then running rubber 5/16" hose be all right?

For those who have run bundy tubing on there Minis, what clips did you use? Did you use P clips, and did you rivet them?

Hi Jim,

Not sure if you know or not, but a z578 fuel filter is designed to take "quckconnect" fittings (a la VT commodore), not have plain hose pushed over the tails. I'd suggest a z200, which is similar dimensions, but with barbed ends for plain hose.

Thanks for that... I wonder if I can take it back and exchange it.
