Dough...You have a very interesting collection of Rides and must say you want be disappointed with a Mini. It will be totally different to what you are use to but i'm sure you will notice the weigh difference and handling.

very much looking forward to what you get up to...and thinking we could see another Mini down at the Nats sometime in the Future.

Have fun in here and keep us updated with what Your up to, Looking forward to it

I am looking at probably getting a clubman for now, doing a roundie front sheet metal graft later, giving it a 3 or 4" roof chop, Louvred bonnet, maybe shaved door handles, white tuck and roll interior with red metal flake paint and pin striping :) thats my plan atm.

Being a hotrodder i can be pretty handy and i am the kind of guy that doesnt mind helping out some friendly enough so if you are a local and you need some help or advice or ideas please feel free to drop me a line.

Hey eveyone,

Time for a re-introduction. Have been surfing this wonderful site for many years but I have not been activley involved. Recently i sold my project car, a 72 clubby that i had been tinkering with over the last few years as it had toom many problems for me to be able to fix.

With the proceeds of this (and a grant from the minister of finance AKA wonderful wife) i have last weekend, purchased an awsome Mini K from another member of this site.

Now named "Colonel Mustard" (good name my wife came up with), was driven last weekend from Adelaide to Geelong and didnt miss a beat!

I love this car for the originality, and i will be maintaing that along with repairing bits and pieces along the way.

I am now looking forward to getting to know the local Mini enthusiasts in Geelong and West Melbourne.

Hi fellow Miniacs.

I recently bought myself a new toy in the form of a Mini (as referred to in my question about approximate power output), and figured here would be a good place to find lots of useful (to varying degrees) info.

As far as I found out from the previous owner, my Brick started life in 1970 as a locally-built Mini K 1100. Some time ago the engine was replaced with a single-SU 1275, which has since been bored to 1330 & fed by a Weber 45mm DCOE & (possibly custom) manifod to suit.

Underneath it has Cooper 7" disc brakes on the front, wrapped in 12" Superlite wheels. The standard drums remain at the rear.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

The front plate was removed prior to the car being freighted from Perth (I'm in Melbourne). The WA rear plate will soon be off & a shiny new pair of Vic plates will go on.

The bike in the back is my usual daily commuter. :-P I had the car delivered to my workplace; I thought through several options, in the end deciding to just have a go at stuffing it in the back, much to the amusement of my colleagues. :P And it fits, if only just.

For those who may be interested in bikey things, it's a 2006 Giant OCR3. Alloy frame, nothing special in the way of bikes. It's my all-weather commuter hack & does the job well.

Hay Ducky just a word of advice get it around to some one who can get it running perfect specially as it has the carb on it or ask a number of questions around here in mini chat. Minis can be a Joy or frustrating but if You get in good you will have some one to help you out which is why the forum is here.

On the Bike.....don't feel alone also as we are not a few but many I have just recently purchased a BMX reliving my youth again but still have my Softride and you will find a great thread on Fixwheels in General Thread

Its a busy forum you will enjoy

After a bit of a wait, I'm officially a ausmini member. Been lurking for around 6 months and found lots of useful info, but it sucked seeing great stuff in the for sale thread and not being able to contact the sellers. On second thoughts probably a good thing as I would have 3 or 4 minis now!

When i was younger i owned a few minis and now am in a position to have a weekend car to mess around in. It was a toss up between a mini or a 65 mustang fadtback. I ended up buying a 66 mini deluxe sight unseen from eBay. Yep, you guessed it overpriced and poorer condition then I was led to believe. It has a 1275 with some sort of cam, twin su's and 12 inch wheels.

Currently the car is stripped of interior,engine and wiring, halfway through repainting. It was easy to pull apart but a bit daunting now i realize i have to put it back together. I 'might need some help in the coming months.

i live in adelaide and am also at uni and loving it.

I just bought my first mini a 70 mini k and i think its fantastic. i'm glad to finally be a member and getting everything on the car working again! :roll:

Hi All.

My name's Matt. I live in the Blue Mountains (aka God's Country).

I'm currently neck deep in the restoration of my 78 Clubman. It's presently getting rust removed and a full respray. I've owned it for about 7 years, but it's been garaged for about 5 while I wait to have time, money, space to attack it. It's finally happening. (I'll put some pictures up when I get more time).

I bought it when I was at school and on my last day I parked it in the front office, right in front of the reception desk. It turned a few heads, especially since I was school captain and my mum worked in the library. I love the options afforded to mini drivers that others don't get. And I love the potential for head turning.

I'm a primary teacher, not a mechanic, but I like to try my hand at stuff. I come from a pretty mechanical family, but my brothers get stuff that I don't.

I've read a lot on this forum while I've waited for my account to be activated. Seems like there's some pretty knowledgeable people out there. I've found some really useful stuff on here. I'm likely to ask simple questions, and need simple responses, because I'm a bit simple.

Looking forward to many happy years of chat about mini's.
