Hi All,

I'm in the middle of my engine build, and hit a bit of snag that's made me revisit what cam I'm going to use.

I *thought* I had an MG metro cam but on measurement and closer inspection I found it was a normal 998 A+ cam (9-41-49-11 0.268"In 0.250"Ex) which is too tame for what I want.

I have a regrind 731 done by Kelford Cams, it looks pretty well ground and has more lift and 0.050" timing than a BL 731. Still, it's still a 731 on 3/8" lobes....

But a friend (hi rathcoole!) has a Camshaft Engineering CE794B not being used. I've tried to find specs on this but I can't find anything at all, anyone know the figures & specs on this cam?

cheers

Jacob

I don't get why you don't (and other people who ask similar questions) don't just get one ground - then it's something you want, you know what it is, and it's a fresh grind that isn't worn... grinding a cam doesn't cost much

Ok well see my sig then! Believe it or not, I enjoy the challenge of getting some odd-ball cam to work, seems like more fun to me.

Actually, getting a cam ground will be my choice if I can't turn up something decent between myself and my friends - hence my question about the CE cam. If someone knew what it was, and say for example it was a "25-65" then I wouldn't bother going any further, and start choosing a grind.

If no-one knows what it is I'll stick it in the block and get all the details off it, already started that with the Kelford 731 and found some interesting oddities.

Similarly I'll profile the A+ cam just so I have a copy of the profile to compare against others for future reference.

Oi oi :)

Was going to ask the same question but you beat me to it!

oh and Simon, seems a bit silly to just assume a cam is had it, especially seeing as in this case you haven't a clue of its history and I'll take it that you don't know the answer to the actual question then.

anyone else?

cheers

Kevin

If this cam is done by "Camshaft Engeneering" (CE) I am sure they will be able to tell you what it is if you ring them.
