yep points are opening.

could it be earthing out through the dissy ?

i have the dissy off my 1275 do you think i should try that ?

Yeap, for some reason it is (shorted through the dissy). Maybe try your 1275 one, but maybe not a good idea to leave it in there. Be sure to mark the position of your old one so as the timing doesn't end up too far out.

A very common cause for the dissy to be shorted is the insulating washer on the points, where the hex nut holds the dissy wire to them is missing or cracked, so check that the washer(s) are there. Sometimes the condensor can also go 'shorted'.

thanks gt.

tried the 1275 dissy & had power at -ve on coil with points open but can`t use it as it`s a 45d4 which i found out is an a+ dissy.

so new 45d on it`s way from mini king.

You would of probably found that the problem was cheaper than a whole new distributor, but oh well glad you are on your way to getting her running!
