Hey all, a search didnt help me much.

basicall, want to know if there any tips/tricks with replacing the rear trailing arms? and how hard is it? I dont have the beast at the moment so i dont know what im in for. i assume its just, remove the wheels, drums, brake shoes, w/bearings, the cylinders can be moved out the way i spose. then the arm its self yes?

i want to fit my current linings and w/bearings to other arms as theyre new lol.

I'm about to do this as well. Not expectting it to be overly difficult. Tank may need to come out if you've got shocks. I do but there may be a way around it.

You can remove the rear arm with the brake assembly on it.
Just remove the handbrake cable, the lower shocker mount and the suspension trumpet.

If I remember you may need to remove the top shocker mount as there will not we enough room to move just the lower shocker mount. If you are doing the drivers side its just an easy bolt, If you are doing the passanger side the fuel tank needs to come out to get to the top shocker mount, removing the fuel tank can be fidly.

Stock up on penetrine as there will be plenty of grease and dirt on all the bolt heads.

yea i have shocks, grr. dont wanna remove the top mount though. hmm, must be a way around it. somehow compress the shocker.

The problem is that there's just not enough room to move the shock far enough inboard to get it clear of its bolt. You could probably do it by releasing the suspension arm pin and freeing the arm from the subframe, but with it attached the shock will need to be undone from the top.

nice idea sgc, will see.

another question, or more-so a favour. can someone here on the forum who has 10" rims measure the distance/gap from/between the tyre to the trailing arm. just so i can see if i only need to replace the RH one :)
