Drool...

Notice that the Morris logo disappears from the front mat in about 1967/68.

My 65 Deluxe has the bull logo on it tunnel.

If theres any chance of repro floor matting for early Deluxe including full boot mat, I'd tkae a set - almost regrdless of price. almost...!

We are trying to see if a local company can reproduce some mats.
They didn't answer their phone or email on Friday. We will try on Tuesday.

Once we make contact we will see what is possible. * Nice photos above BTW.

is not one mat that is close to original to all models better than no mat at all ? Stop nit picking ! ,other wise no body will be game to have a go at reproducing anything for fear of being shot down for it not being right for a certain model , certain parts are just no longer available so we just have to settle for the closest we can get . Good on any body that has a go at getting any thing made that is no longer available

Agreed.
I also think the Morris logo would either raise costs or make them nearly impossible to make.

Update: I am meeting a local mat company on Friday. They say they currently produce boot mats for minis and PVC floor front and rear mats.

On Friday I will be getting a look at the boot mats. I will take some photos and will post them.

I have been told that if we can provide a good quality mat (to be used as a reference) then they will be able to make them for us.

I will first see if they can produce my rear mat (with pattern and colour) before moving on to bigger things.

I saw a mini site that listed all mini rims, perhaps we can get something going to interiors - just a thought.

How good does a mat have to be to be 'good'? No cracks at all? The mat in our 850 is complete but it has splits and cracks in it. I'm not sure how well it would handle being pulled out again :?

Do people/companies remake vinyl/material if you've got a good sample to go off? Could be a good idea while there are still a few NOS pieces around to copy.

Edit: JTR850, are the mats you're talking about 850 or deluxe/matic etc.?

The mats need to be in as good a shape as we can get them. If you can take some photos of what you have I can ask the question to the manufacturer.

It would be even good to see what they look like so that we can create a register and keep track of whats from where and what has been created.

So even if you don't take them out it would be good to take note of what they're from.

I'm trying to get a company to remake them if we can get good enough copies. At a guestimate, they could sell for $490 per set (front and rear mats).

I'd let to get a a list together for all mini's that have vinyl/rubber floors - that way we can provide information about if they are getting reproduced (if so, then where) and if not, perhaps we can get some made.

I haven't seen much information about interiors. I am sure that at the Mini 50 Expo in Melbourne I will be taking a heap of photos -- of floors and trims.

I think that is a pretty good price for a one off custom set.

If people were serious they would pay this.

The alternative is no mats or carpet.

What is the price of a full set of Newton Commercial carpets for comparison? 150 quid! which is $230 today. Plus shipping.

If people think they can get a full set of unobtanium mats for a lot less than that, then they are kidding themselves.

A production run of 10 might reduce the price by 10% if you were lucky. Try for 100. They will sell.

cheers

I'll see if I can get photos later on today. There's a bit of homework that really needs doing

How likely would it be that the set would include all the rubber, i.e. the bit up the front firewall/under the dash, as well as the wheel thingos?

Is it possible to get the fleck pattern on the 850 mats or is it not?

Evan.

exactly Michael - these mats have been unobtainable for years, it's the great let down of so many 850 restorations that the owners have had to fit carpet - $350 is, if not cheap at least very good value imho
