I'm looking to purchase a battery charger that I can leave hooked up to the brick to keep it's battery in a charged state. I was looking at the following one from jaycar,

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... BCATID=295

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

jeepers !! that's got all the bells and whistles!

I'm sure it's excellent, but I reckon it would be overkill for the job :)

I know you didn't ask about batteries, but my battery spent from the end of November till last week not being used other than to run the fuel pump to retrieve lawnmower fuel... spun over my new motor like a top - no charger

I have a couple of these and they seem to be fine.

that's the opposite end of the scale :D  it says it's spark proof because it doesn't have enough grunt to make a spark. Ideal as a trickle charger.

you could chop the alligator clips off that and plug it into a cigarette lighter socket - if you have one that is

I've used 2 of Jaycar's cheaper version of what you've looked at for quite some time now and they work a treat. I'll be buying another one for my daily when I get home on R & R next month.

Their only downside is that they revert to standby mode if there's a power interruption. My wife has to remember to go out to the sheds and switch them back on...

This is the one to get

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... rm=KEYWORD

Un-complicated, set and forget, will do long term trickle charging and well as full boost chaging and sensibly priced.

Thanks for the reply guys, I think I will go with the one Oscar has recommended due to it's smaller size and cheaper price. I will let you all know how it ends.

Those look like CTek's from what I can tell.
I've considered buying something similar due to the battery saver function (anti-sulfation) option they can come with.

At present though, I get by with two wall mounted Projecta trickle chargers that I bought from Kmart for about $60. They come with a plug and terminals to permanently fix to the battery and a fairly decent lead with the opposite plug - I had to have two for when I had both front and rear engined cars with batteries at either end of the garage!

I have a little projecta 800 Mah charger which is good to keep a good battery full, and a C-tec 3600, this one is a basic model that can be set for different size and state of charge batteries, it will charge a flat battery too. C-tec also do an 800 model.
