Repair beaver panel
Paint door inside and out L/H

paint hinges
Paint tail lamp panel L/H +R/H

G'day Lochie, As everyone has said , you sure are having some sh!t luck with your mini's, but hang in there mate it can't last forever, it will get better, these things were sent to try us .
Mate, re: your brakes, were they ok before your car got hit ? , or would it be a coincidence that they have just decided to play up? Just curious, seeing as you have done quite a few K's on your recent trip , could it be that they just need adjusting?
Not sure mate , just throwing a couple of thoughts at you.
Colin.

adjusting wont so much cause the pedal to go soft and hard and cause that about of travel so fast.. You could adjust them up a bit I'd say, same with the hand brake, they were all nicely adjusted to the drums when I left, same with the handbrake. 2 clicks and he was on hard.. now its about 3.5. I expect that tho with the km's we traveled. Brakes were still perfect when I arrived home. Hard as a rock on the pedal. Only had about 2cm's travel b4 I had it stopping, if I went to 3 cm's it would be on its nose. So no, unfortunately it has something to do with this accident. :( It has me wondering tho.. I'd give so much to have the time to get my ramps out and look under him and take things apart to investigate...

NEIL Where the **** R U???? HELLLLPPPS ON IDEAS

You should really check out the rear end lockie. If you have taken a big hit like that it is possible its bent your subframe and possibly disturbed your brakes.

You could be right. if this is the case Insurance will be the go. I might get my big arse jack out tomorrow and get up real early before uni and jack him up and see whats going on.. I'm scared to what I'm going to find... I don't want to see it.. :(

My worry is however, the insurance company assessor is going to find it hard to beleive my brakes have stoped working if theres nothing obvious.. ie a hose broken or a pipe leaking everywhere.. for a hit like this in the street they wont see this having caused some grit to get in the line to cause this, and my fear is they will say my brakes were like this b4 the smash, and that I'm BS'ing them...??

Very sorry to read about your misfortune Lockie. Hopefully a helpful suggestion: to ease your concern about your brakes and the insurance company assessor, perhaps you could substantiate the fact that the brakes were fine before the hit by referring the assessor to your Ausmini Thread covering your travels to and from the Oz50 Mini Carnival? Just a thought.

Regards from the NSW Southern Highlands, Rob

yeah I might be able to do that. Thanks heaps for the idea

Catching the train into uni for the rest of the week however. Drove him to Brisbane and back today and well the brakes are poo poo. It's got worse. I'm loosing fluid somewhere. He's parked in the shed at home, and will stay there until I get a chance to look at him, hopefully the weekend. Gunno have to push uni work aside for half a day I'd say. I'll have to drain the system and figure out whats going wrong.. Really giving me the shi**s that this all has to happen at once.. :(

Lockie the insurance should do it with no excess and no loss of no claim bonus. If you haven't cleared this with them yet, get on the phone to them and have a chat.

I've had a similar thing happen before and the answer was the same. Not at fault = no excess = no loss of no claim bonus. It may be brighter than you think 8)

The best part of it is the brake fault sounds like it has happened due to the accident so it will get fixed on insurance. If you muck around with it you may not get it included because you have worked on the car. Best leave it alone and get the insurance company to sort it.
