I find the wire wheel bits like reflecting off things and going through the jeans and straight inside you. Little buggers.

Shaved the skin of my left forearm from my elbow to the wrist

adjusting the timing with the grill removed and pulled my arm out too quickly when the distributor gave me a boot.

I wasn't going to admit it, but some of the others sound as stupid, so I'm in good company!!

I shorted the spanner across the two battery terminals on saturday while disconnecting the battery!! Gave myself an impromptu welding lesson!! Also learned how to do the Toyota "oh what a feeling" jump :!: :!:

Don't feel so bad mentioning this now... got my index finger caught between the torque spanner and the clutch diaphragm.

End result, nine stiches...

Man this thread has provided a good laugh. You could allmost ask the question who hasnt been injured when working on a mini.

The wire wheel on the grinder flicked out a piece of wire that stuck into my shoulder a few mm. Didn't hurt or anything, but it's a good lession. ALWAYS make sure you have eye protection on when you pick up a grinder.

I did manage to run the wire wheel across my wrist a while back too (the soft underside).

A few minor burns from molten steel falling into my hands, my lap or my boots when welding. I get a faint rash from the sparks out of the angle grinder hitting my skin.

But apart from that, no major damage.

Hahaha his feet are so tough from years of not wearing shoes that they protect him better than you wearing steel capped boots

Let me see, I scrapped my forearm about 50 times on a sharp hose clamp trying to do my clutch. Only noticed when it started to bleed  Then i turned the sharp hoseclamp 180 degrees and didn't get scratched anymore... it wasn't the worste thing but that was by far the dumbest thing i've done

When I was young and even more stupid...I managed to lower an engine onto my hand whilst trying to guide it in alone.

I was using a three eye block and tackle and nylon rope....slippery nylon rope!!! I reached down under the right hand engine mount and at the same time loosened my grip/lost purchase on the rope.

luckily, a neighbour poked his head over the fence a few minutes later and said "whats all the noise about!! "

Please be careful out there people...

Now I wanted to ask if anyone has some real significant injuries from working and or racing these little beasts, Im sure many of you do.

Yep.

Rolled my Clubman 3 times at the old Catalina Pk Raceway, Katoomba NSW(1994). Spent the afternoon in Katoomba Hospital - a few cuts (if you're going racing, invest in a laminated windshield), whiplash and some fantastic bruising. One 1974 Clubman completely destroyed (not a straight panel left on the car).

Husband has had numerous Mini related injuries (he did work at the Mini Car Clinic for 10+ years). Too many to list here.

I have a scar about 2cm long between my thumb and index finger across the webbing where my 1275 donor car slipped off the jack and squished my hand between it and a block of wood. Long time ago now, I know better.

oh and now 4 broken nails :(
