Guys about to have a large cleanout as I am just running out of space for mini crap. I have been collecting for some time and have lost track with prices of some major stuff. What should I expect for say a Cooper S block, Mk 1 (I have some in STD bore, some in 20thou, some in 40thou) and also cranks (some STD/STD) all will be crack tested prior to sale, others will be serviceable ie 10 or 20 thou. Just a rough guide is OK. The reason they are all MK1's is I am keeping the MK2's. Before I sell any will list partial engine numbers in case anyone here is chasing their original engines. I have approx 15-20 S motors so may be able to help someone find their donk.
Thanks G.

I paid $75 for an S crank off ebay and $100 for an 1100s block, if that gives you a guide. Both were pick up only.

The block actually came with the bearing caps and some other bolt ons like the double chain front plate.

Wow sounds cheap, I would have thought cranks and blocks would be worth more than that.

 A few years ago now? Regional Australia? Seems pretty cheap. I've seen STD bore & crank 1100S long motors go for $700+

cheers

Probably four years ago but both the crank and the block were sourced out of Sydney. Mind you it cost every penny and more with rods, pistons and more with machining to make a spinning motor.

It was a crank and a bare block, The finished motor cost all of a grand and I already had the 12G940 head.

I would tend to think that EN40B Cooper S Cranks would be worth in the range of $150 to $350, depending on jounal size, servicability, tail and nose condition. MKI Blocks (with caps!), I would put in the range between $200 to $600 again, depending on servicability. If they have no caps, they are near worthless (yeah, how come there are all these blocks on ebay without caps - how do you loose the caps???? ).

But on the upper end of these ranges, all you need is two determined buyers.........

I (dad actually) bought an S crank off ebay last year for $180 - I thought that was a good price. Haven't measured it, but definitely needs a grind

I'd love to offer you peanuts for them, but I reckon S blocks and cranks with life in them are worth plenty more than what Mike is suggesting

put one of each on ebay, and price the rest based on that

Yep - the need to buy determines what will be paid. I wasn't suggesting that should be the prices - its just what I paid.

Mind you, I paid $100 for the 1275 tail bush on ebay.

A certain owner of a melbourne mini shop gathered up all the Mk 1 & 2 S blocks he had awhile ago and shipped them of to the UK. I beleive he was paid around $500 each for them.

Yeah, I second that. That would be awesome if an engine could be reunited with it's original car.

And what a tragedy all those Melbourne motors have left Australia.

Sure, will post a list of ones I want to sell may be easier for people just to check the list.
Greg.
