Well, one put me in hospital for 5 months, and off work for 10, after my mate wrapped it round a tree. It was in sight of his front gate, too..

My first 850 was lots of fun in the 60's- I was Lancaster Motors' best spare parts customer I bet. I had too much power for the poor gearbox(es)..
But I was hooked. No other car could corner at such insane speeds back then, skinny crossply tyres and all.
Had another 13 of 'em since- it's a sickness, I tell you...

My first car was a Blue Mini Deluxe bought around 1967 (but drove the wheels off Dads FJ Special every chance I got before that) and I was wrapped in Motorsport as well so it was all so natural.
The Deluxe was YMS2S2/16673 and 9YATAH/17446 originally purchased 21/10/66 from Stewarts Motor Service Blakehurst.
In the mid 1970s a later Mini had big impact on my life and it was a big impact!! I out did the Dr for once!!! with a slightly longer hospital stay.
A lot of my friends and relatives owned Minis and I worked for fella detailing Minis and he also rallied a hot webered 1310 (went like the clappers).
I am pleased to have undertaken Project 850 and become the Secretary of the local Mini club in later life....Mini people (generaly speaking) are good people!
